How much do you feel squatting before you bench hurts your bench performance in training? I’ve always trained upper and lower separately, so I have no point of reference on this

Hello…
I always felt that benching after squatting went really well because I felt so relieved that squatting was finished. Benching was like…relaxing post squatting.
BUT when I was doing shit like texas method or korte 3x3 benching started to suck because it was after squatting AND deadlifting. (EVEn though you were sorta supposed to deadlift last I did it in the middle cause I wanted to relax and enjoy benching Lol)
P.S. HI DAVE NICE LIFTING

I think if your training them together your can’t really get too fired up which I like cause you get nice surprises come meet day. Also I’ve never noticed a difference in benching after or before squat/pull I prefer to bench before just cause it’s easier to get under the bar after benching.

This is my first “cycle” ever doing it. I can’t tell you yet, obviously, how it will work gain wise. But here are my thoughts:
- My legs are tired after squatting, making the leg drive a little less effective.
- My whole body is tired, meaning I’m likely benching 5-10% less than I could be on an “upper” day.
- Bench comes after squats in a meet, so this should help me gauge my actual bench numbers easier on meet day.
- That being said, there will be more time between squat attempt #3 and bench attempt #1 than my last squat and first bench on these days.
I’m hoping it works out well. We’ll all see on Sept 8.

I actually found the exact opposite. I much preferred benching after squatting. I didn’t feel like I could get anywhere near tight on my squat after benching, but after squatting I could still get relatively tight on my bench.

Really? I always feel like lifting. Probably too much. I need more balance.
AND I Am quite excited about my meet! Also very nervous. I have no intention of placing in front of anyone, Lol, but I really don’t want to miss lifts. That would make me very upset.
Deads

Ya, sometimes I just don’t feel like it. No drive to get in and work hard. It’s usually during times of extreme stress outside the gym. Other times it signals needing a deload.
lol You just might be surprised on how well you actually lift compared to others. Not to get you more nervous or anything

I DUNNO ABOUT THAT MAN! But it’s exciting to think about…
I just feel like I should be a lot stronger by now, I’ve been attempting powerlifting for like 3+ years now, how the hell do I not have a two plate squat yet?
I’ll bet all the other womenz will have a two plate squat there…
I’m still 75% NOOB… tinkering around with uncertaintity, sigh…
But I’m only 25 so i still have like 25 years to get strong ![]()
