Physical Efficiency Battery, failed!

bodyfat test (3 point caliper)
sit and reach test
“bench press” test
illinois agility test
timed 1.5mile run…

failed the illinois agility test.

what the fuck? how could i do this? i suck, that’s how. speed (and agility for that matter) have never been a strong point of mine, but did i care? no, i said fuck it, who needs that shit when you can be big and strong? well, when speed and agility are stopping me from getting a job and starting the next chapter in my life, apparently i need it. passed the bench press with flying colors, in fact one big guy came over and told me that the instructors were bugging out as they kept increasing the weight for me…but there’s no bonus points here, so that doesn’t count for shit. and shouldn’t. i’m slow, and it’s time to make speed and agility a priority.

my goal is to gain employment with a Federal Law Enforcement agency and then bust my ass, put in my time and get on an elite special team within said agency. i am not going to get there being slow, it’s time to strip away the bullshit and get some speed.

Sat, Jan 23rd, 2010, in Washington, D.C. i failed the PEB because i couldn’t make the time on the illinois agility test.

Sat, Feb 13th, 2010 i will get another shot in Atlanta, GA. i am flying into ATL Friday night and leaving Saturday night. With airfare and hotel i’ll be spending just barely under $400 to get another shot at this. even if i pass the PEB, i’m not guaranteed anything, they haven’t done the background investigation yet, i could very well get thrown out for some stupid shit i did when i was younger…we’ll see.

getting big and strong is on the back burner, the next three weeks my main objective is getting faster. i’ll be doing some type of sprint/foot work AT LEAST every other day. just got done with my first sprint session, did some jumpsoles work as well.

time to take this seriously.

Feb. 13 make or break, here we go…

One thing’s for sure, no hanging out with Mr. Boh until after the test!

But seriously, best of luck with training and the upcoming test. How much do you need to improve?

thanks, i need to shave about a second off of my Illinois Agility time. they dont do it “exactly” as it’s designed, instead of cones they used chairs, which i think adds difficulty to it, yet they dont adjust the times to account for that. oh well, it is what it is. ive been thinking about it, and some fold-up camping chairs should provide an easy way to practice the test.

im hoping that just the fact that im practicing and working on sprints and stuff will be enough. i went in thinking that the whole thing would be a breeze, and the only thing i really did differently was some 1.5 mile runs, i wish id practiced the agility, because if id passed that and got a slower time on the long run, i still would be moving on to the next stage without having to shell out $400 to get to atlanta. oh well, again, it is what it is.

and i know you were kidding, but me and the boh havent seen each other in a very long while, 6-8 months at least.

stay tuned, i will do this.

Lastnight, 8 sprints. Distance unknown, maybe 40 meters

-5 sprints starting face-down, just as i will start the Illinois Agility Test
-3 sprints starting face-down, run down, stop, reverse directions and run back, to practice the way ill have to stop and turn around in the agility test

tomorrow ill do some jumpsoles work

Didn’t get to do any jumpsoles work the other day, snow all over the place and it didn’t get cleared. Ran 1.5mi on treadmill at the apartment.

Today did sprints and jumpsoles work. Tomorrow we’ll see what happens, my shins are getting pretty sore.

sprint work yesterday, rest today. weve got probably 10" of snow on the ground today, and expecting somewhere around 20-30".

as long as it has taken this fucking county to clean up the snow weve gotten so far this year, it looks like my running will get “interesting” this week, to say the least. already know that im not getting out anywhere tomorrow, and there will not be anywhere that i can sprint, if my shins (mostly right) are up for it ill run 1.5-2mi on the treadmill. if not ill do some work on the exercise bike.

cant wait to get down to GA, pass this test, and get home and start lifting again.

weight is down to 193 from 200 when i started this thread. HOT-ROX, sprints, eating a little smarter…
