Despade: Tales of a Lifetime Intermediate

You’re fatigued. Stop paying attention to how weights feel and how many reps you get, neither mean anything.

I’m still stuck in the 5/3/1 mentality of hitting a rep PR every time out, slowly getting out of that, thought about it during bench this morning, “Oh god, 255 feels heavy.” “Wait…who cares, trust the program, next week is a deload.”

Week 4 Day 2

Benchie Things
Warm Up Stuff
3 x 1 x 255
1 x 2 x 255
1 x 5 x 255

DB Bench
2 x 12 x 80

Rolling Tricep Extension
2 x 12 x 55

Lat Pulldown
3 x 10 x Double Green/Double Purple Bands

Rear Delt Flye
3 x 10 x 30

Attempting to disregard my ‘feelings’ about the weights, because it doesn’t matter, what matters is that I deload next week, continue to work the program, and blow up some PRs in a couple months. It amazes me how much ‘less’ I am doing on this program and how much more it is kicking my ass haha

Weight: No significant change, bloated as all hell, though, whenever I change my main protein source I get super gassy, I’ve gone from a lot of beef to a lot of venison (just smoked a couple pounds of deer tenderloin on Sunday) and so I’ve been a walking whoopie cushion for about the last 18 hours haha the wife is not appreciative of this, weird. Have some ‘shady’ abs when my bloat is gone, though, like when I go to wipe my face with the bottom of my shirt I can catch just like a hint of abs haha

Playing some catch up in here. Huge congrats on the new position man, very happy for you. Hope the family is back to 100% health and sleeping through the nights again soon! Our little guy has actually slept through the night the past 5-6 nights now (~12am-6am) which has been amazing. It is amazing how big of a difference sleeping for 6hours straight is vs slipping in 3 or 4 1.5-2hr naps.

Excited to see how Greg’s program goes for you! Those 5s prescribed rest periods are craziness.

Thanks! It’s huge financially for us, should be able to get out ahead fairly quickly moving forward! Yeah…we’re still waking up every 4-5 hours, ha. Go down about 8:30, up around midnight, and up again around 3-4, I think one or the other would regularly sleep through the night, but since there are two…there’s always ONE that isn’t playin’ nice haha

In regards to Panora’s training, I am really liking it so far (caveat being I’m only in my 4th week) but I expect for some good numbers to fall after 12 weeks on the strength program, then a peak with his program and some (hopefully) monster PRs for me in January. I have definitely been eating to support growth for the last full 3.5 weeks, have gained ~4lbs but feel great. Yeah I’ve never messed with the rest periods to that extent, but they’re rough, deads on Thursday have 10s breaks prescribed…that’s gonna hurt.

Bleh…feel like hammered shit today, fighting a sinus infection, the girls’ sleep pattern is awful, goodness, it is not going to be a fun one today. The walk was ok, legs are definitely tired, body is tired, but more from lack of sleep/recovery than from training.

Weight: Bloated a bit, up another pound(ish) hungry as all hell, all the time, it seems like.

Edit: Also, I’m awful about posting food shit, but I’ve been using the hell out of my Traeger, latest is smoked quiche, got two batches 1) Egg, cheese, bell pepper and onions 2) Sausage, Egg, and Cheese. Going to do some more this weekend, but I’m going to sautee some mushrooms and the onions then add it to the eggs with bacon and cheese.

what is it with everyone on here getting sIck in the last 2 weeks. I am thinking conspiracy and that governments are infecting us with viruses to boost global pharmaceutical sales.

Step Ups (12" box)

1 x 1’ x +85lbs

Pretty good day, deadlifts always feel pretty good, and the 10s breaks actually weren’t bad, most difficult part was keeping the break counting separate from the rep counting haha

Weight is still coming up, no surprise, ate a literal ton of spaghetti, mostly meat and sauce haha it was elk burger, so it was lean and heavy in protein, bone apple tit, bitches haha
I forgot how hard it can be to force feed yourself, good god I was miserable last night after two giant plates of that spaghetti, but I figure I’m gonna bet big this winter, and I’m going to have to be ok with adding a bit of fluff, and I want to actually be big, not be ‘big for around here.’

I can’t wait for this. A tall dude like you, might end up with a big belly, at least that’s what happened to me, but I’m old and it seems like the adding muscles is more stubborn than OHP progression.

Good luck, eat clean, eat big.

Wow, definitely ready for a deload, Christ almighty those front squats sucked, also I’m weak.

Weight dropped 4lbs plenty of water intake, plenty of food so, not sure what that’s about, buncha bullshit haha

15 rep sets of front squats are always going to suck. No shame admitting that.

Just keep hitting the sets and reps and let the magic happen. Can’t wait to see how your peak goes.
