A certain supplement company has a dessicated liver supplement that they promote (along with some seemingly good protein powders).
I’m curious if anyone has ever supplemented with liver, and if so, what were the results?
Is this a body-transforming supplement (assuming all other factors are in place), or is it just a general health supplement?
DL is a very good supplement. It gets a lot of put-downs on this board because it’s been around for a while, and people tend to like the newer stuff better. But for the price, you can’t beat it for protein content and amino acid profile.
If you’re not getting enough protein in your regular diet, then yes, DL can be a body-changing supp. If you are, then the effects are less noticeable, but still worthwhile. Give it a shot.
Don’t these things contain alot of nasty stuff since they come from liver? There are much better sources out there. These things didn’t do much of anything in the 70’s anyway.
In the early seventies several stuies were done feed mice dessicated liver as a % of their protein source. These mice were tossed in a tub of cold water to see how long they would swim before giving up. The mice who consumed the liver were still swimming at two hours when the test was stopped. The control group started to drown around twenty minutes. These test resulted in a number of well placed bobdybuilding authorities to recommend dessicated liver (Vince G. was one). There is the history. Does anyone else have more recent developments? Best of Luck.
