Dessicated Liver Powder

Does anyone know of a good quality source of dessicated liver POWDER? If not, then tabs will do. I’m trying to find either something in Canada or online bulk, but don’t know of any supplement websites that sell this stuff.

Thanks!

Google ‘Ultra 40’ if you’re wanting tabs.

Thanks…so far NOW brand seems to be the best powder…it’s not defatted so therefore contains vit A. Just was hoping for a bulk distributor.

I have ordered a bottle of Universal Nutrition Uni-Liver tabs that I will be starting in about a week. I’ve never used dessicated liver before, so I’m not sure if Universal is a good one, but they were pretty inexpensive and I’ll keep you posted.

Is it the 1970’s? What is going on? I haven’t even heard of this stuff in years. What’s it do?

I have been using Uni-Liver for awhile and think they work great. However, Im not sure about the label when it says per 100 grams of liver. How many tabs will make 100 grams?

I haven’t used the stuff in ages but always found it gave me more energy. It is supposed to contain an enzyme P-451 or P-45 or something that helps with energy. Also it has B vitamins and protein, of course … what stopped me using it was the idea that the liver contains all sorts of crap that the body of the animal was breaking down.

I’d be interested in the latest thoughts on liver tablets. I note Biotest don’t offer any, so maybe they are still considered either a waste of money or unhealthy.

Nevertheless, I found them quite good so maybe I will get some more.

I just ordered 4 bottles of NOW Argentine Liver Powder from natural organic free range non-drugged cattle. It is dried and NOT defatted and therefore contains the vitamin A as well (which is important for protein synthesis).

Dessicated liver is a tried and true supplement that has been around forever. It is said that liver is the best multivitamin there is and gram for gram liver is the most nutrient dense food on the planet. Dessicated liver contains protein (1 tblspn of the powder has 7 grams of high bioavailable protein that is complete) and also has a slew of vitamins and minerals. There is a compound that has yet to be isolated (P-450) that gives energy and endurance.

It is a myth about the toxins in liver. The liver is designed to remove toxins, not store them. A healthy cow would have a healthy liver. And since the source is organic Argentine cattle, they are healthy. If any toxins would accumulate, it would be in the bodyfat, not the liver itself. The truth is that the liver is chock full of nutrition.

I decided to avoid the Uni-Liver for a few reasons. All the research online in various forums stated that many got really bad gas from it. Also, because it is defatted, it does not contain any vitamin A. And lastly because it is highly compressed tablets and not powder and they are apparently huge horse pills that are hard to swallow. But I guess chewing or crushing would solve that problem. I found that NOW liver powder to be about the same price and since it is not defatted I think it’s a better value.

I think Arnold used to take these as well. Feedback has been mixed and 1/2 the people say definite increases in energy and endurance and 1/2 state they didn’t nothing for them (but I think probably because the dose was too small). Many take 1 tab for every 10 lbs of body weight. I plan to add a couple of tblspn’s to my protein shakes to get a variety of protein.

Also eating liver is extremely cheap and gives alot of protein for pennies. Start with chicken livers since they have a milder taste, but also less vitamin A.

Here’s a good site for those lucky to be in the USA as they don’t ship internationally. For NOW powder in Canada PM me.
