he tore his pec years back. herniated his disk years back. still impressive but some are old injuries

Pretty sure he was listing career injuries, not current ones. Still, considering what he did to his back a few years ago makes his current lifts even more impressive.
His life story is worth reading if you happen to be a fan:

Good stuff.
excellent story… helluva a guy^^^
the Arnold Strongman classic is really the true test of the strongest man in the world, it is the heaviest out there… from what i’ve read and talked to him, he wants to win the WSM, but mostly because he’s won every other big strongman contest out there… he won Fortissimus twice? (i know at least once) and he has won the Arnold twice… WSM is set up more for television… hell, the weights used in the Arnold Amateur strongman comp this year were heavier than most of the WSM weights…
also, Derek did have the world record, but Z crushed it this year by pressing 459 on the appollon’s axle… twice (strict pressing i might add)

I subscribe to this mag, this was one of the better articles they’ve put out. It’s pretty awesome to see Poundstones’ popularity cross over into the mainstream. I’m hoping there’s a young dude or two out there who read this and get inspired to be great.
Derek was listing career injuries. The tricep was recent, but I believe healed. The left foot is from WSM 08, but still gives him trouble. The pec is 2 years old tho,

Those are different implements. Derek set his on the ironmind axle, 2" and smooth. The arnold isn’t 2" and isn’t quite smooth

actually, the arnold axle is 2" and the knurling isn’t exactly great, they are both Appollon’s replicas… i work the Arnold Pro show, I know exactly what the axle is like… i’m not taking anything away from Derek, he too almost hit the 459, but even he’ll attest to Z’s ridiculousness… Z literally strict pressed it twice like it was nothing

The knurling may not be great, but crappy knurling is still better than smooth. As far as whether it’s 2", I’m just going off of what derek told me. For the record, I do think that Z could press well over 414, or whatever Derek’s record was on an ironmind axle, I’m just saying he hasn’t done it yet, and that to my understanding, the differences between the arnold axle and the ironmind one are significant. Maybe I misunderstood, but like I said, crappy knurling > no knurling
And I know you worked the arnold Zach, dont you know who this is?

Kevin? haha… yea, from what i know, the bar is 2"… i know when Z pressed the IFSA axle it didn’t count, but I assumed the Appollon’s was for the record

I may’ve misunderstood, it wouldn’t be the first time. At any rate, I guess records in strongman are a little shakey anyhow, esp with giants live and super series and whatever else is out there. would be nice if the maxes could be all on one standard bar, but oh well. Ridiculously strong. When I watch Zydrunas lift, it’s so unreal, it’s almost not even impressive, like you’re watching a mighty mouse cartoon, yknow? Too bad Misha couldn’t have pushed him a bit on axle, woulda been sick to see Zydrunas truly max out on axle, and deadlift too, for that matter
