Dodgeball last night - we won 12-4 with 15 minutes left to play some fun games.
We had no female subs, so I worked my butt of the whole game - love it!

Now back to my deload. I need to get rid of this tendonitis in my elbow - shoveling snow, chipping ice and pushing cars has not been good for my recovery.
Back to work after a fairly lazy deload.
My elbow is still sore when doing certain movements (like lateral raises), but it is improving. All the movements I did last night didn’t bother it at all. Still no chin-ups for now
Last night’s workout didn’t go quite as planned.
I got a last minute call to sub in for the Monday dodgeball team I dropped this season (the all girls team).
So I ran off to the gym and played a pretty solid game. We squeeked by with a 8-7 win.
Once I got back home, I hit the basement.

I tried a few other movements (lunges and cable pull thoughs) but my legs were either too fatigued for good form or it irritated the hell out of my elbow. In retrospect I probably could have done some glute bridges or hip thrusters, but I was feeling pretty uninspired by then. At least my knees felt wonderful while squattng!
We didn’t have those balls. Not sure if it was just the schools I went to or a more general phenomenon in New Zealand / Australia. Most of our school gym stuff was outside rather than in a gym, actually…
Dodgeball sounds like fun. And hard work. Congrats on the press PR!
First off, the cartoons are totally awesome! Like someone else said, you have a lot talents. Totally cool.
Secondly, I’ve been dying to do the tough mudder or something similar. Dude, i mean, obstacles? I’d freaking kill it! Just sayin’…
Nice training as always. I forget how incredibly strong your upper body is!
HAHAH! No Balls. Freaking hilarious. I’m watching the vids now - You just effing pegged some guy super HARD!! HAHAH! You rock!! Oh man, what I wouldn’t pay to do that…thanks for vids
Thanks for stopping by Maschy! I totally get satisfaction out of cranking guys with dodgeballs! lol that sounds kinda wrong, but the guys that know me don’t give me a break either. If they go easy on me I’ll eat them alive. I’ve had my fair share of wicked bruises too.
Alexus - Outside gym would be great. I stayed in Perth for a few months when I finished Uni and I remember seeing the kids outside doing gym class all the time.

I’ve been feeling a little off for the past couple of days - kinda flu-ish, but it hasn’t manifested into a full blown illness. I went to the game last night (against our toughest opponents) suited up and sat on the bench for the game because I felt all vomitty. My team squeaked out the win and I went home and brewed up a strong batch of ginger tea. I’m not counting myself as officially sick (no fever, just an unsettled tummy) yet and I’m hoping my body will totally kick this bug’s ass before it can try anything.
Tonight we’re grading the juniors in karate. I love gradings - there are always a few kids that really impress me when it’s crunch time.
Have you posted any DL videos? Maybe you have something going on with your form that someone here could help you with. How does your knee feel when DLing? Does it limit you?
Nadia - I did post a video quite a while back and got a few pointers (weight on my heels, pull back), but I think it is time for me to post a new one. I’ll pull out the camera this week and post something.
My knee usually feels fine while deadlifting and I don’t think it is a limiting factor. The weight just feels so damned heavy when I’m trying to hit multiple reps. I am pretty new at this game too, I’m at maybe 6 months experience lifting heavy - before that it was just p90x and a little bit of upper body stuff. I’ve got a lot to learn and a long ways to go!
So yes - this week I’m certainly pulling out the camera.

Cut short again to go sub for the Monday dodgeball team. We only had 6 players for most of the game so no subs. My lungs are feeling it a bit today! I had a cold start, but ended up having a decent game in the end. My knee felt a little sketchy at times because we were playing on a horrible tile floor that was a little slippery. Nothing too alarming, but it makes me really anxious to see what mext week’s MRI will turn up. We won the game, but I don’t remember by how much. We had a decent enough buffer that I wasn’t really paying attention to the score.
Lifting is taking a bit of a back burner position. I am happy right now if I can get all my main lifts done during the week. PRs are just icing!
