Hi,
Does anyone know, if theres a general rule of thumb when it comes to the carry-over of depth jumps to vertical jumps, ie if someone can do a depth jump off a 40" box he will for sure have at least a 32" vertical or something in that manner?

Not as far as I know. The stronger and slower you are, the more they’ll help you.
What do you mean “do a depth jump?” I could probably do something close to a depth jump off of a 6-foot box, it just wouldn’t be too pretty.
Do you mean a depth jump rebounding up to a certain height maybe? I’m sure there is some correlation, I can’t give you an exact number though.
Yeah, I mean a depth jump where you step of a box and explode right upon ground contact.
I did depth drops off a 6-foot box, but never a depth jump.

Well that’s a bold move right there. I would ask you why you do depth drops off of a 6-foot box and what you’ve done to prepare yourself for that?
I am trying to say is that you could perform a depth jump off any height box that you wish. The training effect depends on doing it correctly. I really doubt that you could correctly do a depth drop off of a 6-foot box, much less a depth jump anywhere close to that.
I do depth drops off 6-foot box, because drops are a part of my routine and my coach told me I could increase the box height, as long as I land correctly. So because I feel that I can still land correctly off a 6ft box I use it to prepare my self for depth jumps, which I will be putting emphasis on in the next phase.
Then by all means go for it. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anybody correctly land a depth drop from even a four-foot box but perhaps you can.
schock shit … i just saw that 6ft is 72 inches, my bad. I am not from america so please don’t get me wrong … I thought 60 is 6ft., i actually meant the highest drop I did so far was 60 inches (which is 5ft, i realized after I looked it up). Sorry
