I was loading stones this weekend and was getting pissed at the amount of chalk I kept having to put on my arms hands and chest, then I got so sweaty that the chalk started to get all moist and was basically worthless. I sat there pondering after my workout what would be a good solution to the problem.
I decided to try and put deodorant on my forearms hands and chest the next time I load. (have to wait until the scabs my forearms heal) My question is: aside from tacky, which I frikin’ hate, does anyone have a solution for sweat and slippage for stones? have any of you guys tried deodorant for stones before? do you think it would work?
I’ve never tried it so I don’t know how well it would work, but you could try something a step below tacky, but above chalk – like stickum spray or gorilla gold.
I wrap my forearms in duct tape or medical tape.
The antiperspirant (make sure it’s a deodorant with an antiperspirant) might help to some extent, but I strongly recommend you tape your forearms with med tape. This rarely slips, but if it is so hot that it’s slipping, apply a base of stickum prior to wrapping

I think this is the first time we’ve EVER agreed on something.
I suggest you get over your tacky hate.

I use it only when I absolutly need to. I was doing a workout which had me going back and forth between loading a stone and a keg clean and press. I would not want to get that crap all over my keg. I have elite tacky by Dave Ostlund and it takes me about 10 minutes of washing my hands with chunky peanut butter just to get it off.

You are using peanut butter to remove it?!?! That’s a waste of perfectly good PB!
Use WD40 or baby oil or something!!!
What the fuck is this world coming too?! Wasting peanut butter…

True story. This guys never gunna last in strongman, he hates tacky and wastes peanut butter.
On a side note, one of the best things I’ve ever learned from another competitor: double decker peanut butter and jelly. It allows you to effectively double the pb&j while only increasing the bread 50%. I like to put the jelly on the inside slice as it absorbs best.

Haha. I like where this thread is headed.
For a normal, 2 slice, PB sandwich I like to put PB on both pieces of bread and then jelly in the middle. So I have 2:1 ratio of PB to jelly. I love some PB.
Have you all tried the Skippy Natural w/ Honey. Tastes like what I imagine heaven would be like.
How do you guys spread natural peanut butter? That shit is like trying to spread gravel when its cold. It is delicious though, and nutritious.

Well, to be honest, the Skippy “Natural” is bs. It has peanuts, palm oil, peanut oil, salt, sugar, and honey. So it spreads like normal.
The actual natural stuff I can only get through about 3/4 of the jar before all the natural oil has been used up and then it’s just a thick paste and almost worthless. So I just eat PB gravel.
Fatty, that avatar is wicked rad.

Duuuuuuude, this might be becoming the best thread on the internet.
When you first get it, heat it up (microwave) and stir it good to get the oil back into it. If it still isn’t smooth enough, you can add olive oil not only for consistency but for some healthy calories.

True story. Someone makes a peanut butter chocolate spread as well that I saw the other day, was seriously on the fence about it and ended up leaving it in the store after I added it to my cart. Anyone try this yet? Reviews?

If it’s the same dark chocolate/PB I’ve had, it’s awesome.
The only problem is that it doesn’t come in big enough jars.
They also make other flavor combos. I’ve had the white chocolate/PB, which is good, but not as good as the dark chocolate variety.
I only eat PBJ’s on toast. You can load about 50% more PB on it vs. untoasted, and it lowers the glycemic index of the bread.
x2 on loading PB on both pieces of toast
The double-decker on toast will be epic.
I’m a big fan of toasting the 2 outside pieces, and leaving the inside piece untoasted. I’ve found this to give me the best gains, but like anything, you need to experiment and find out what works best for you.
Mmmmmm… crunchy on the outside, gooey on the inside, bready on the inside-inside. Naisssssssss.
