uhmmm, that’s called the Jammer. pretty popular with athletes in general…
looks very useful…I wonder if you can use something like thrusters as a substitute if you dont have that press machine.
the machine has big old rubber pads on it…
you could do thrusters… or just do some jerks.
as for shoulders- snatches, and jerks and yes Bench will do more damage .
but what do I know.
well and here i was thinking i was much safer doing my jerks and benching =(
anyway what do you guys think of the matchup? i hope demian wins, Miller is well-rounded but he isn`t phenomenal in any aspect
Yep, what do we know considering this is not even 30secs of footage?
However, to play internet-know-it-all-expert (oh yeah!), a classic, short, strength training workout would be, in my opinion, more beneficial for Maia, who has tons of strength endurance already.
You shouldn’t superset oder multiset plyometrics because they are so technique dependant and you shouldn’t be fatigued doing them.
This looks like the oh so popular and en vogue “let’s throw random, functional shit together” MMA workout.
We used to do the same exercises for football. They wanted as much weight as possible on there for relatively few reps however.
I agree with Schwarz that going into high reps with an explosive move like this could cause problems.

Jumps onto a tire aren’t really technique dependent and getting stronger probably wouldn’t fit into Maia’s style. It’d be like Nick Diaz doing Max Effort Benches.
just looked like conditioning to me. i suppose that machine is a bit safer than push-presses when doing a circuit like that.
My untrained observation would be that MMA energy systems workouts I see seem more complicated than they need to be. Maybe they do this for variety to keep things fresh. Maybe when you are that highly trained you need new stimulus occasionaly. Maybe the trainers feel they provide value by coming up with off the wall shit. Who knows.

All questions as to whether this a worthwhile exercise should now cease being as none of you can beat Brock Lesnar in a streetfight.
