Defining Moment in Your Goals?

I was wondering if any of you had a defining moment as far as knowing you were dedicated and on a path and at the right mental state of mind that you knew you would reach your goals?

I think I had my first today. I had just finished work and had an hour or two before I started another part time job. I was on my way back home and was talking myself into missing today’s gym session.

I had a really bad headache, was thirsty and soaked through but I knew if I got back home and on the sofa for ten minutes I would not be getting up and going to the gym.

Just at the corner of my street I said fuck this and from nowhere felt a strong pull of determination to man up and do what I needed to to get to where I want to be and turned around and headed to the Gym.

So i powered on in the rain, got to the gym in my timberland work boots and soaked pants.

Fast forward five minutes and the person who is usually full of social anxiety working out in a crowd had discarded his work boots and was squatting barefoot, hitting a new personal best on every set. I went beast mode the entire session, my numbers on every exercise but the leg press went up and the headache passed and was replaced by a big smile and weak knees walking down the gym stairs.

I even got the confidence to talk to the way out of my league brunette who does provocative quats in these pink shorts that only cover half her bum and I made ehr laugh and not even at me.

WINNING/TIGER BLOOD!

edit* also thank you for all those who told me to bulk first, I think it is making a big difference.

Probably July 25th this year, I did a 20 rep squat workout AFTER a 13 hour work day outside in nearly 100 degrees. I wasn’t hydrated or enriched with food, and I managed to squat 305 for 20 reps whilst never having back squatted consistently for over 6 months prior to the workout.

Wow way to shit all over my staggering 154 lbs back squat for 12 repetitions record.

 Also nice job, why are my damn legs so weak, were you going hip below knees or parallel?

I do my squats with good form or at least parallel or very near and some guy does double my weight and barley squats and then looks at me across the gym as if to say yeah how you like that.

Some guy last week told me he squats 200kg, found out he leg presses that the lying git

There is one saying i like very much…it is: “you are what you do”

You slowly adapt to whatever you do consistently. If you consistently train with heavy weights for years…

you will eventually look and perform like someone who trains with heavy weights.

Your brain can cook up anything you want it to about what you assume people are thinking.

I assume that 98% of women find me very attractive, and that 95% of men think i am a cool guy, but, lol, who knows if this is actually the case?

I think its way better to be excessively confident and positive, then it is to think you are a worthless, dumb, ugly peice of shit.

You are wrong, 98 percent of me finds you gorgeous

Bellow parallel, although I have quite the bounce out of the hole of the squat.

OP, It’s not doing that once or twice that makes you significant. It’s YEARS of consistency, even when you don’t feel like it, when you’re warming up on squats and your legs are still sore from squatting a couple days ago, but you stick it out and crank out your reps; it’s that kind of dedication that makes you stand out. Doing it over and over and over.

Also, this isn’t a gay dating site…most of us would appreciate a change in avatar on your part.

Once a gay man starts posting on a forum it becomes this.

I enjoy romantic picnics, going to the movies and cooking. I am naturally adventurous and like a man with a strong jaw line. My favorite film is anything with Mr Depp in and I like to feel secure and wanted before I will let a boy into my bedroom.

If you are hungry for more message me and be original boys, this guy is looking for brains and biceps.

There are many times where I despised the thought of training, or doing a particular exercise, but did so anyway. (last night for an example when I was sprinting when it was 37 or below farenhite, and pitch black)

Not me. There are definitely days where I despise training, but I despise not training FAR more on any given day that I’m not horribly incapacitated. The gym is my happy place and training is my fix.

for me it was about a year ago

I’ve lifted weights on and off since I was in the 7th grade. Almost a year ago I finished undergrad. I had a shitty semester and lost weight from 185 to 150 lbs and was in extremely bad health. I’ve always had high goals but at that moment I realized that I will reach them undoubtedly. Before that I would take time on and off from the gym, change my training style, and overanalyze and doubt the shit out of my training. Now I’m confident that doing what I do - train hard, sleep well, eat well - will work. I’m really only the limiting factor in my growth and I won’t give myself an excuse to fail.

I guess the biggest obstacle to my strength/physique goals would be injuries, but even that’s in my hands to deal with.
