Does anyone think declines are bad for your back ?
just arch when you do flat bench to create a decline.

Well in that position the wieght is pulling your spine instead of compressing it. I am just coming back from a hip / back injury . Right before I took time off I started doing declines and felt pain. That could be cuz the injury was already there .
lumbar traction/spinal decompression is actually used to treat a number of back problems… but if it hurts I would still stay away at least for awhile
I don’t think the exercise is bad, but I have found that not all decline benches are the same. I have been on a couple that I just don’t fit right in and that has given me pains in the back. Find a bench that you fit properly in and it shouldn’t be a problem.
