Oh come on. A thread about trance music is up at the top and this one is on the third page?
This has been a good discussion, lets keep it going.
Otherwise, someone might throw dog shit at your house.

This thread reminds me of some old good stuff. It was a special kind of feeling being really into this stuff and exploring tons of bands that now virtually all sound the same. Now I’m just one of those guys who “have a wide taste in music” which basically means I don’t have a taste in music at all! I don’t spend so much time exploring anyway.
@detazathoth: I didn’t stop liking it, my taste just changed. I don’t know how exactly does that happen but I think part of the magic was gone when I stopped caring about the whole lyrics and image thing, just concentrating on the music.
This thread also made me go through my death metal and I found more stuff I like. Most of it, especially the “basic DM” was shit but this cover album of Vader rocks. I especially enjoy the Terrorizer songs and Terrorizer and Repulsion still sound good. The Celtic Frost cover sounds shit compared to the original though. I remember listening to the scream in the beginning of Dethroned Emperor over and over again and getting a musical orgasm every single time.
This stuff just doesn’t happen anymore.

I feel that man, Gorguts were always criminally underrated.
Seeing as I only just found this thread, I’ll openly state my love for what I believe are the better acts of the current crop:
Immolation
Portal
Stargazer
Crimson Massacre
The Chasm
Necrophobic

I don’t know how people listen to new Suffo; it’s simply painful, and not in a good way.

Could be worse, people could be listening to this instead.
For any of you guys that live near Boston, local band Revocation is having their cd release show/party tmr night at 9pm at Great Scott’s.
I’m more of a trash/speed guy, or into symphonic black metal, but what I hate most in the current metal scene is all the fucking purists.
When metal was more popular, you’d see a fucking glam rock band like Poison video followed by a Slayer one. You’d get more people to listen to harder styles that way. Now it’s “Spliknot sucks” “numetal sucks” and all that shit.
I actually like some numetal bands even though I’m way more a fan of harder styles. I wish the metal scene was more open instead of all pissy and “pure”.

Don’t go posting that on the forums at metal archives haha
This thread rules. Detazathoth, you are the man. I can’t stop listening to that Spawn of Posession, I feel like the first time I heard Morbid Angel.
Great stuff, thanks.

Those are metalcore bands, big difference between Death and Metalcore. I like metalcore too, but this is a Death thread.
And no, Rob frikin Zombie and Drowning Pool aren’t “Death” metal. They’re “Trailer Park Metal”, plain and simple.

Yeah, they’re incredible, like the bastard child of Incantation and Gorguts who’s been drinking too much absinthe whilst reading Lovecraft. Hah, The Curator wouldn’t be impressed by anyone mocking his hat. Here’s a couple of vids from their last live gig:

I hadn’t seen the video before. Holy shit, you know it’s going to be bad, but you just can’t prepare yourself. Isn’t there supposed to be a keyboard player in there somewhere, or has that gimmick been killed off already? Even the song title is stupid.

This is my position also[/b]…(Start with guitar, go from there)…
