So I went to a HORRIBLE concert the other night. Lamb of God, Children of Bodom, As I Lay Dying, God Forbid, and Municipal Waste. LoG was decent (they played more old shit than new shit, thank God,) and Children of Bodom was kickass - even though Alexi broke his shoulder. Municipal Waste was suprisingly decent compared to the rest of the show, though. Shitty part of the show was we made up to the VERY front… but had no weed, and felt like I was getting ass-fucked by like three guys at once the entire show. NOT COOL.
that’s quite the line up of trendy pop metal. i’m sorry but anyone who claims to like lamb of god looses about 10 credibility points in my mind. but followed up with children of bodom and as i lay dying? not my thing. shudder
Lamb of God exchanged crappy production but pretty decent songs for better production and pop-metal/core it seems. Only heard “as the palaces burn” (or whatever it was called) and “wrath” thus far, though.

Yeah, I’m really not sure why I chose to go to the concert in the first place. I mean, I wouldn’t have minded going, but the fact that a ticket was 50 damn dollars was staggering. I actually really enjoyed Lamb of God’s early shit - New American Gospel, Ashes of the Wake, and As the Palaces Burn. Burn the Priest had some decent stuff too, definitely. But I agree with C_C 100%, they definitely sold towards the nu-metal/metalcore side of things. Shame, because they use to utilize some really groovy techniques.

You’re not lying, brother. I was SO pumped to see TH.
And so THAT’S what you mean by “slam.” I had no idea what you were talking about, tried googling it and didn’t find shit, haha. Municipal Waste was pretty decent, even if they reminded me of a neo-Nazi punk band haha.

What do you guys think of Psychroptic?
Initiate-
Man, Gerdy, good job. This is much better than whatever you posted here last time :).
If you like Psycroptic, you might as well check out the guys in my avi (Severed Savior.)
Though I can understand if it’s not your cup initially; death metal is truly about baby steps IMO.
lol exactly…well the bands that started the baby steps are Hatebreed, Killswitch Engage, and Sonic Syndicate.
I have lately been really into In Flames…and All That Remains is not bad either.
I probably still shy towards melodeath (I’d guess) or some power metal…but some death is great. For me Death Metal can be won or lost with the vocals. There are some bands out there that I love the instrumentals but the vocals just ruin it for me. :s lol
Five Finger Death Punch is another band I have been listening to lately.
I’m going to have to go back and listen to a lot of the songs recommended in this thread LOL

power metal eh? how about some edguy? these guys are a riot.
Well not to distract from the Death Metal part of the thread but here are a couple other genre’s of metal that I’ve been listening to lately. (Note-I’m not the best with what fits in what genre LOL) Anyways Ensiferum…
Ensiferum - Battle Song
Ensiferum - Death Bringer From the Sky
Ensiferum - Raised by the Sword
Ensiferum - Knighthood
Ensiferum - Victory Song (long ass song! start at like 2 mins, 3 mins kicks off)
What I like:
-pretty good guitaris
-pretty good drums
-decent vocals
-goes well together
What I dislike:
-I know they are viking folk metal but the whole slay a dragon type theme gets kinda gay
-some songs take like 3-5 minutes before they take off
-the flutes and some additional stuff should be tossed out, give me drums and guitars and play it fast! lol
Something new (BATTLE SONG is the best, followed by Knighthood imo)

TH is pretty good, I have only heard a few songs from them though.
They have their moments. Great beer drinking metal.
I LOVE the thrash metal revival of late, I think it’s way overdue. Right now my favorite of the new thrash bands is Warbringer, they remind me of old school Exodus with a hint of DRI.
TOTAL WAR! Great shit to lift to.

S.O.D. - March Of The S.O.D.
^greatest mosh song ever
HA! Love S.O.D! I Still have my Speak English or Die t-shirt. That’s one of the sickest, gnarliest riffs of all time.

I posted Voice of the Soul at the begining of the thread, and i think that’s it only because that instrumental is more beautiful than it is brutal.

lol I said Slamsauce as a joke, since every Municipal Waste song makes me want to slam and thrash about in a mosh pit.

Your dislikes are some of the main reasons why I like Viking/Folk Metal, it feels like I’m going into battle to rape, pillage, and plunder.
But I see your Ensiferum and raise you
Wintersun - Starchild
Wintersun - Beautiful Death
Wintersun - Beyond the Dark Sun
Wintersun - Death and the Healing
^ The Most Epic Solo. Ever.
I prefer Jari’s project with Wintersun instead of Ensiferum
