ooo i like the drumming style. and the bullfrog vocals crack me up in a sinister kind of way.

how do you describe that style of drumming? tight and rolling? good shit anyway.[/quote]

I’d just say the drumming is tight. I still lol at some of vocals I hear, but for the best rather than being turned off by it. I figure vocals in Death Metal is more for the atmosphere rather than actual singing.

Does anyone here like Born of Osiris, Despised Icon, or Winds of Plague? Not really death metal, but still good.

Born of Osiris- Open Arms to Damnation

Despised Icon- In the Arms of Perdition

Winds of Plague- Decimate the Weak

Sinister

Brain Drill

Hateplow

Here’s some new shit I stumbled upon recently

Quest of Aidance (death metal with Predator movie themes!)

Vorum

the winds of plague song started off so nicely, nice and death-y. i just couldn’t get past the hardcore vocal.

maybe for a change of pace:

ahab: i think they’re classified as funeral doom, but god damn it’s so good. very emotional and crushing and gutteral all in the same song. i’d recommend giving it a fair shake. plus the moby dick lyrics are pretty cool.
old thunder

the hunt - try to listen the whole way thru, i know it’s long. amazing.

melodic death metal anyone?
insomnium - daughter of the moon

dark tranquillity - ego drama. classic melodic death i think.

the wonders at your feet

amon amarth - twilight of the thunder god.

i saw their show at the palladium in worcester… omfg that was amazing. when they started death in fire, and the whole place was screaming, stabbing the air with the horns… awesome. johan hegg’s voice is fantastic.

across the rainbow bridge, maybe the sickest gutteral growl i’ve ever heard. sounds like he’s gargling blood. starting at 1:45. it’s even better with cd sound quality.

windir - Sognariket Sine Krigarar

not death metal, but vegard, valfar’s brother, is fucking huge, which might be of interest to T-Nation metal heads.

coldworker. these guys are kind of new, not too many videos on youtube. technical death metal? brutal death metal? BOTH???

citizens of the cyclopean maze

custom made hell. no vocals

grettiron, where in Mass are you located man?

If we’re going to bring my favorite BM band Windir thread, then we call it Stri(Battle) Music, since that’s feel I get from listening to Valfar (r.i.p.)

Windir - Stridsmann

Windir - Dans på Stemmehaugen

Windir - Dauden

Windir - Mørkrets Fyrste

Windir - Svartesmeden og Lundamyrstrollet (9min of pure epic win!)

Windir - Arntor ein Windir

i’m in worcester, train at bay state gym. i saw in your log you’re in andover; my gf lives there right now and i visit occasionally. where do you lift?

back on topic: i just discovered windir and vried. really good stuff. i made some metal stations on pandora. surprisingly they have a lot of death, black and doom variety.

epic win, i agreee. that song is amazing.

I live in Andover yeah, but I go to school in Boston, and I train in Everett. I go to Total Performance Sports, and I wouldn’t train anywhere else.

…and yes Svartesmeden og Ludamyrstrollet is an epic win

I had to post this simply because of the lyrics. They’re under the description.

I own despised icon’s “the ills of modern man”, I actually rather like how the instruments work together… The only things I could really do without are some of the all-too-simple slow parts (could just be done better imo) and some of the vocal styles (the more hardcore-influenced stuff… That just annoys the hell out of me).

Still, I nice music for driving etc… They’re definitely not bad at playing their instruments, either.

Haven’t heard any material from the other two bands yet.

Yeah, Despised Icon isn’t too bad. I do actually have all of their CD’s, but I pretty much only listen to them when I work out. They kind of help set the sound for a lot of deathcore bands today, that’s for sure.

Not too big on Born of Osiris, and Winds of Plague is basically a deathcore ‘upgrade’ of something like Dragonforce.

So who received their Fleshgod today? I didn’t pre-order…

I got an email today saying that it was shipped…

Does anyone like Vader? one of the guitarists from Decapitated joined that band. I will see if Vader was talked about in the last 20 pages

I really hope Vogg puts some much needed diversity in the Vader sound, they’ve been stagnant for years.

A band I just found, Domination Through Impurity. I kind of like the song… I will investigate further into a CD.

And another, Atheretic. They’re decent, but I’m still not totally sold on their sound.

And this chick is fucking cool!
