Deadlifts Supierority Over Squats?

Can’t you use straps with the snatch-grip dead to raise loads a little?

I like the snatch-grip deads, but to be honest, I don’t think the elevated snatch-grip deads are as great as some make them out to be. I think it’s too much ROM with a weight in your hands. I tend to use too much back in it, and it doesn’t hit my legs as much. The plain snatch-grip deadlift kills my glutes and hams, though, it’s just right.

I probably won’t remember to come back to this thread when the times comes for me to do Snatch-Grip Deads, but I’ll defiantly write something up in my log.

I’ve done more “laboratory research” on my DL vs. SQ analysis. Actually my lab is my rented garage, but I digress. This may be a totally personal issue but my pelvis/hip socket hurts from squats and DL’s don’t give me any pain. The odd thing is I can squat a good 20% more than I can DL (grip?).

I’m going to concentrate on the DL for a good while and see what happens. Although I still am convinced that the DL is overall a superior lift to the squat.

I am currently working very hard on my snatch grip to hit the muscles in a different way.
Im on 102.5kg for 10 sets of 5, raising the weight 2.5kg every session. And the grip is starting to go before anything else.

I am planning on using straps for anything over 110kg for 5 reps and under but I am planning on some 10 rep sessions on 100kg, so will definatley use straps.

Personally, i never use straps for conventional deads, but for these, because my grip is giving out before anything else due to the wide grip Im gonna get my self some straps.

After all, its an accessory exercise to regular deads, so Im not bothered about using straps for it, if using straps helps build the other muscles using heavier loads on snatch grip deads, Im gonna go for it.
