When I do deadlift I scrape my shins up on the bar. I’ve tried to lean forward more but then I use too much back and not enough legs. Is this a normal problem? I think my form is absolutely correct. So does this happen to others? Is there a remedy?
Keep your weight mostly on your heels, so don’t lean forward too much. As for the bar scraping your shins, the only thing you can do is grin & bear it.
Try wearing long pants when you Deadlift. Works for me.
Talc.
You could also use an axle which has no knurling & won’t scrape so bad + it’ll beat up your hands/forearms.
Try using windbreaker or track pants. They seem to help me out. Also helps keep the lower body warm too.
An old powerlifter once told me if the bar aint scrapin your shins you aint doin it right
That’s one of the ways to know your form is good. Anyone I’ve met that has does DL alot and posts good #'s has bloody shins on a regular basis. This is the “Blood” part of the blood sweat and tears that you pay to get the strength and muscle we all so despratly desire. Sorry it isn’t very inspiring. But if you want to turn it into bruises instead of scrapes, may I suggest wearing pants instead of shorts so the bar won’t grate directly against your shins.
