- once to twice per week
- alternate grip
- deficeit deadlifts, reverse hypers
- Once a week
- Conventional
- Squats, Rack pull, shrugs.
KCB.
- Once a week.
- Sumo.
- This is a hard question. Lately I have been hammering bent over rows from the floor, alternating underhand and overhand grips every other week, and it seems to be working. Prior to that, I was doing back extensions on the glute ham bench ramping band tension over the course of 5-6 weeks, and that seemed to help. Prior to that, I was working snatch grip conventionals.
One thing I will state is that we have been hammering Kelso shrugs, either on the chest supported row or lying on a 45 degree bench holding a barbell. We all agree these are helping all three lifts right now. I wish I had started shrugging in this plane a long time ago.
Once a week, conventional or snatch grip, romanian deadlift.
Once a week for two weeks, then two weeks off.
Conventional.
Hmm…maybe good mornings, maybe farmer’s walks, maybe squats.

What is your favorite deadlift assistance exercise?
BTW I did a search before I posted this.

- Once a week
- Conventional with double overhand grip
- Rack pulls from just below knee (helps me with grip since I can use higher weight and also lock out)

1-Every six days.
2-Conventional. I don’t think I’m coordinated enough to do anything else.
3-Stiff-legged DL’s, squats, glute-ham raises, unilateral hammie machine.
Once a week. I usually do conventional or sumo. I don’t know about assistance. I mix it up with Romanian deadlifts sometimes I guess.
I guess one could consider assistance exercises squats, presses, back extensions, rack pulls. But I don’t really look at it that way. I see them as other exercises I do, worthwhile in their own right.

I was really surprised everybody liked Conventional so much, I hate them. Then again my shin bone was smashed into 3 peices in a car accident (i was on the bike) and not really put back together right.
is it that or is it that i am 6’ and formerly lanky?
2-4 times a month
Conventional now, did sumo a long time ago for a bit.
Band deadlifts with average bands (I can’t believe nobody said that yet - awesome exercise), also defecit deads (which I call deads off of a step), and good mornings.
As you deadlift heavier you have to allow more rest for you body, particularly the nervous system (at least I have found that to be true), so every week gets rough if you are always going pretty heavy
1 time a week
convential

1x/week
Sumo
Good mornings (Fav)
