Finally decided to take a video and get a proper form check, thanks in advance. 415x4, 180 lbs, 5ft 11in, running wendlers 5/3/1 with the simplest strength template, fire away.
your doing good man…as weight got heavier you lost your arch and last 2 reps put you in an unfavorable position where your back rounded…stick your chest out and keep it out! That will help you keep your arch. Lastly, know when to say when…stop a set or two before failure. Once your form starts breaking shut it down. Missing doesn’t do anything but teach you how to fail.
thanks hara!
To add to what HARA said, the bar doesn’t look aligned with your shoulders, but that could just be because of the angle that the video was taken at.
Looked good other than the last rep you brought it out from your shins and the fact that you rolled the bar, but didn’t do it in a way that helped you. Not being a know it all dick, just saying you didn’t use the momentum. Watch Benny Magnusson lift. He uses the roll and seems to do well in the deadlift.
I see what you mean with rolling the bar, I guess I just do it out of habit to make sure the bar is touching my shins, I watched some benni vids, I’ll give it a try, guess its just a matter of being faster off the floor there.
I would say you should try and drop your hips down just a little. Not to squat it up but it looks like your back would benefit from the more upright position.
You are also shooting your hips up a lot at first. I’m trying to gauge this all of the first 3 reps or so, and if you go slow you can see the bar barely moved and you straighten your knees too much putting all the load on the back and hammies too soon when you still want to use the lats and quads while you can in the beginning of the lift.
What cues are you using now for pulling? I’d really try and focus on leaning back more. Also, be patient with the heavy pulls, work your technique more with heavy weight (meaning don’t let your knees straighten until the bar moves more, lean back more too). Also, keep your lats tighter. Idk if they were even helping at the end there.
Good luck

Thanks a lot! I can definitely see now what you mean, as far as cues, none really, I just grip and rip.
