Dchris's Grappling with Age

Seems reasonable.

I was 22 and waiting tables at Trattoria Romana in Palo Alto when I first had pesto.

The world got a little brighter that day.

That’s a very specific memory. Must’ve been life changing.

Dinner

Couldn’t wait for the broccoli to finish cooking so at my rice first. This resulted in me unable to finish the meat. Ha, oh well. Less cals. :man_shrugging:t2:

Didn’t use very much bbq sauce. Just spritzed it a bit for flavor.

I was the day waiter - we ate family style with the busboys, all Mexican illegals. I think it was my third shift.

Night waiters got to order a pasta off the men and my friend Hassan ordered pesto. I was walking by as he ate it, and was drawn to the stinky rose - garlic.

ME: What the fuck is that?
HIM: Pesto

It was green pasta, and I was mesmerized. He shared it with me, and I was in love with pesto.

Morning back workout and cardio.

For breakfast, bread was moldy so had rice instead. Lunch was green beans and salmon. Dinner was cabbage and beef sausage.

Had my grandma over for breakfast and made Dutch babies. Forgot to take a pic of it before I ate it. It’s not bad for you, eggs, milk and flour. Then add cheese, egg, prosciutto.

Didn’t eat lunch cause of the late brunch. Although, my wife made scotch cookies using Lagaluvin 18, so had to try one. It was for my dads bday.

Dinner was steak and asparagus. My best holiday as far as eating goes.

Food today should look familiar. Left house at 715. Meetings until 10. Drove 3.5 hours. Meetings, dinner, then board meeting.

Finally got to gym at 830. Did chest and 7 minutes of cardio before I was too exhausted to continue.

Chipolte salad for lunch. Same dinner as last night. Too exhausted to update more.

Yesterday, was miserable.

600 - wake up
630 - 25 minutes cardio
715 - office
1045 - meetings
615 - meetings over
615 - dinner with boss and BIL (who I can’t stand)
730 - guy in league I’m president of have has been saying horrible things about me. So I call him to discuss. For an hour + he just yelled before I just calmly explained how wrong he was. Just a full of shit 40+ year old. It’s funny the amount of lies I call him on. Nonetheless, it was draining. The whole call, I’m in the gym parking lot.
845 - go into gym. Do 3 sets. Wife calls
855 - back in parking lot on phone.
10 - finally walk into grocery store, that I’ve sat in front of for last hour.
1030 - back at AirBnB
11 - pass tf out

Hey Chris, don’t think I have ever spoken to you but I’ve been following for quite a while.

Out of interest, since I’m quite into cars and you seem to drive A LOT - what car do you have if you don’t mind me asking?

Well, today should feel like a breeze compared to that mess!

Welcome!

I have a 00 F250 Diesel that I’m currently driving, but only because I thought I had someone to buy it. My primary car is a 19 Tacoma, which I really like. It’s a 6spd manual that feels like cheating. It’s so hard to stall out. I could dump the clutch on fat ground and it wouldn’t die. I really wanted to get a Tesla, but I couldn’t afford/justify the cost when it’ll have 60k miles in a year. My Tacoma, which I’ve had for less than 60 days, has 6,4xx miles on it.

For sure! I get to play baseball tonight! Doesn’t matter how tough it is, at 630 I’m on the field.

Was starving this morning so stopped at health food store and got the breakfast sandwich. Then, chipotle salad again. Off to meet with Fire Marshall.

That is some crazy mileage. It’s weird being from the UK I don’t see many pickups - I had heard of a Tacoma but didn’t know what it was until I googled it.

Do your hips get tight with all the driving? I only do about an hour most week days and about 6 hours over the weekend and I find my left side in particular where I am constantly lifting the clutch up and down gets really tight. Last week I was on holiday and didn’t drive once and my hip feels fine now.

Yea, most countries don’t have the full sized pickups we have here. Not sure about UK, but other countries have the Toyota Hilux.

Yea, this is what I attribute to my inability to deadlift without pain. Back squats are also out. I make up for it with machines tho. I do lots of stretching. I can do the splits, ever which way as well as other contortions, but my hips are still tight. If I could get away from a truck, I’d be driving a Lexus LS460 or equivalent. It’s so comfortable.

I get used to driving and Find it enjoyable. It’s how I consume so many books.

…speaking of which, I read (listened) to Trillions dollar Coach. It’s about Bill Campbell the legendary coach of Google, Apple and other major corporations. It was written by Eric Schmidt. Good book, I appreciated the history, but for a management book it was kind of lacking. If someone wanted management tips, I’d highly recommend Principles by Ray Dalio or anything by Peter Drucker

That’s a strange statement to me because I can’t afford or justify buying a Tacoma. I love them but damn, they’re pricey.

I’m sure a Tesla is more expensive, but I drive an '03 Tahoe that cost me $3500 a couple years ago. My perspective is a bit different.
