Dchris's Grappling with Age

I second this. A wise decision made.

Looking forward to seeing multiple pics posted soon!

Not much to report today. Had the same protein bar as yesterday and some water.

Been in meetings since 730am. No time for lunch, unless it was doughnuts.

The right choice! Every time you’re hungry, that’s your abs coming in.

How do you handle having a 6 pack but having more to lose to look shredded? This is why I bailed from the cutting train last week. I have a 6 pack but it’s not like you can see my obliques and serratus popping out.

I really just got tired of being hungry all the time and having a 6 pack is good enough. I’m down 25 lbs for the challenge and down 35+ since Halloween.

Great question, I can totally relate. My experience may give me a different perspective than others, but coming from prepping for 4 shows and almost 3 years of straight dieting, it’s not worth it to look shredded. Quality of life suffers far too much, and I’d rather have a full, round six pack than a shredded one. When I got to low enough body fat to have cut obliques, I felt so terrible I didn’t care what I looked like, I didn’t look forward to training, and getting through the day was a struggle. Some folks who have a faster metabolism and are naturally leaner might have an easier time with it, I am not one of those guys. I find maintaining a level of body fat that allows for a 6 pack still has good shoulder and arm definition, and looking like you lift with or without clothes.

I was eating 1600-1700 cals a day to get to stage condition. For now, I eat at or slightly below maintenance, and it feels like a lot mentally. To be able to eat 2100-2200 calories a day is awesome, especially with a meal plan that allows you to eat a lot of healthy food and never feel hungry.

It comes down to what the individual is willing to put up with for the physique, combined with their genetics. Personally I always want to be lean enough to have a muscular looking physique, but I have no desire for shredded obliques any longer.

Book Update: started and finished 10X Rule. It’s kind of a hype book. He made some good points that I’m considering. The two things that I wasn’t terribly fond of were: 1. Overpromise and Overdeliver. I get this in theory, but it’s made as a general statement in the book. It’s not great advice, unless you control 100% of the outcome. 2. Continuing to pursue potential clients even after they tell you to stop. Mostly because I get hit up with sales guys constantly, due to my job. I get absolutely infuriated when people continue to call me.

Breakfast
Perfect Protein Bar. It’s been a life saver this trip because the AirBnB doesn’t have any way to prepare food.

Lunch - with colleagues. They wanted Hawaiian food. I got the smallest size of teriyaki chicken. I asked for no teriyaki. Then put just a bit on myself.

10X rule IIRC. Read it a year ago.

Set huge goals that are so big they don’t seem achievable to you.

Take consistent massive action towards those goals every day.

Write your goals out twice per day.

I’ve listened to a few of his real estate shows. His book title “be obsessed or be average” pretty much sums him up. I think he’s equal parts real deal and high on his own supply. That’s what makes him so funny.

Was thinking about the goal I set for myself at 18yo to make $100k/yr by 30yo. Wondering if I’d have set the goal of $100k/month where I’d be now… either rich or in prison. That might be my next goal. 12X cause the math is easier!

I mean, this isn’t wrong. Daniel Khaneman started this at the end of Thinking Fast and Slow.

Yea, some decent points. Just a bit too much hype for me. General statements that don’t always apply. I’d definitely suggest the book to someone who needs motivation and a kick in the ass.

Did you make it?

I set the goal when I was 12 to be a millionaire when I’m 30. I’m 29 and have 21 months until I’m no longer 30. I’m about a 1/4 the way there if you take total assets. Still crossing fingers ha

Sold over $350k gross in a year with my small side business when I was 24yo. Only paid myself $25k so I could reinvest in the business. Then promptly got shut down by the feds over rule changes. Raided all my savings to avoid going bankrupt. Whoops.

First time I went over $100k AGI was when I was 27yo.

Turned 30 4 days ago and I’ll make $121k AGI this year without adding any income streams… which I intend to.

I wish I had read Rich Dad Poor Dad, Cashflow Quadrant and Total Money Makeover at 18yo before I went to school and took on debt. Then my goal would’ve been $50k in passive income and no debt.

Awesome good work. You know what to do and how to do it. Only trick is believing you can.

Loving the entrepreneurial path this log has taken with these posts.

I’ve listened to 10X Rule once, and Be Obsessed or Be Average twice. I agree that some of his outlooks on certain aspects, for me, are too extreme. He talks about never going out to dinner alone with his wife because he views that as wasting time he could be building his business. Obviously that works for them, awesome, but family time is more important to me than business, business serves as a vehicle to allow me to live the life I want, which means as much time with family as possible while maximizing career success. Everyone has their own balance. That being said, Be Obsessed Or Be Average was a huge game changer for my mindset, marketing strategy, and methods at which I attack certain aspects of my business now. Overpromising and overdelivering is also a topic that has worked for me. This year, keeping that in mind, I’ve taken on more clients than ever, with less time than ever to get their jobs done, and because I committed to them, I am forcing myself to find new ways to be productive and get it done. These methods, combined with “Willpower Doesn’t Work” by Benjamin Hardy, are an outstanding combination.

Graduated from Oregon State with a degree in Speech Communication in 1986. In 1987, as a branch manager of a tire store, I made $37K. Checked out a website, that translates to $87K today.

My brother Jon graduated from Stanford in 1984, passed in 2001, was worth $5.2M.

My brother Joe graduated from Pacific Lutheran in 1984 as well (five year plan), he’s worth $15M.

I think Chris is on the right track. Eventually, he’ll save enough to start his own, and that is when his income will kick in big.

I got this today. Should have it finished next week.

Just started Trillions Dollar Coach by Eric Schmidt.

Ya… this is a bit too far for me. But, I also try to optimize my life by working 16 hour days while traveling, so I can spend 18 hour days with my wife on weekends.

I pay off my wife’s surgery from last fall next month, my broken truck in 2 months and my broken tooth in 4. Once those expenses are gone, I’ll have lots of play money to buy my first investment property.

Actually, put an offer in on a property today for a house while traveling. It’s a equity split between me and the boss.

When I get there, tnation bbq on me. Only caveat is you have to have a 6 pack to get in. This isn’t E-Nation for gods sake.

Dinner - lots of broccoli, cup of rice and chicken. Ate the broccoli first and couldn’t finish the rest. Oh well :man_shrugging:t2:

You got me by a year. I hit it at 28 and didn’t think about it until taxes.

Never read the book, but I did graduate without debt. That was a huge springboard for me into adulthood. 23, married and no debt. Bought first house and flipped it after 2 years for 40%. Bought second house, landscaped and am sitting on another 40% after 19 months
