Dchris's Grappling with Age

Saturday

Did 45 minutes of cardio this morning. Weight hasn’t dropped this week, but I suspect that’s because of water retention. Bicep vein is starting to make an appearance all day… so the plan must be working.

Definitely a good sign!

Also, something I noticed every now and then when on a hard diet, it’s not always a smooth ride on the way down. Sometimes things stall for 7-10 days with no changes on the scale, then poof, down 2-3 pounds in a couple days. We’re making smart adjustments to Chris’ plan and he’s executing with great consistency, we’re definitely on the right track!

A quick update. I’ve been weighing in at 219 the last two days. Expect to be lower tomorrow. Work has been intense. 60+ hours a week, traveling 3-4 nights and I have been sick. Still hitting the gym hard and doing a shit ton of cardio.

Monday was a blast, woke up at 4am, left at 4:45, drove 2.5 hours and my alternator went out. Pulled over on side of road, hitchhiked to autoshop, watched a youtube video, bought the tools and new alternator, hitchhiked back to my truck and fixed it before carrying on. Missed a meeting, reason I left so early, but carried on and worked all day. Then went had a leg day with 30 minutes of cardio after. Tuesday was back day, followed by cardio. Wednesday was Chest and cardio.

Took today off because I’m not feeling much better. We’ll see how I feel tomorrow.

Another overdue update

Weighing in at 217. I did 60 minutes of stairclimber today. Essentially, 20 minutes upon waking, 20 before lunch and 20 before dinner. Trying to do it as close to hungry as possible. Ha. Work is still crazy. I went into Friday having worked 56 hours. I’m really hoping to hit 212 by my trip to Thailand. I’ve got a call with Rob tomorrow to talk about it. The trouble will be the week of Christmas in the Midwest with my wife’s family. No access to gyms and it’s cold af outside. I’ll really have to stay on portion control and pushups, lunges, etc. I’ll be traveling again tomorrow for work. Normally I travel with a colleague but he’s out this week… which means I’ll have as long as I want to camp on a treadmill.

On another note, my back is still F’d from the trap bar deadlift I did in September. My hips are incredible right and I’ve been trying to loosen them up, but I don’t think 12 hours of driving each week helps. Ironically, I can still do the splits tho.

My back was starting to feel 100% a few days ago. I was ready to start maybe doing KB swings as cardio again… but, no. Today, driving back to my brother in laws and a lady pulls out in front of us. I was in the front passenger seat and got hit by all the airbags. My whole body hurts.

Hope nobody was hurt, shit!

Word to the wise go see a chiropractor, get x-rays if you need to and make sure the car insurance pays for it all in under that one accident. Look into the tort limits of your policy and theirs. Talk to an attorney while all the information is fresh. Even if you never intend to bring a suit you’ll at least have the consult in the books. Maybe your BIL has an injury that takes months to manifest and can’t work for a year.

Four years ago my brother was hit head on by a drunk driver. The driver was uninsured and an illegal immigrant. He went to prison.

My sister-in- law was driving. Neither my brother nor my sister-in- law suffered life threatening injuries, but she broke her foot and had internal injuries. My brother suffered internal injuries as well.

They were taken to Stanford Hospital in Palo Alto - the accident happened on PCH in Half Moon Bay. Their ID’s and insurance cards were left in the rental car and since the hospital couldn’t verify insurance, they treated them poorly. My sister in law was told she was fine, given pain meds, which caused her to vomit, and they left her, passed out, in a wheel chair in a hall way, with vomit all down her front.

My brother was being examined for internal injuries at the time.

I called the hospital patient advocate and got things squared away, but, bottom line, because they came in without ID, they were treated as indigent.

My sister-in-law was unable to return to work. She owned a hair salon.

Because they are wealthy, and because my brother wanted to protect his wealth, he had a million dollar uninsured motorist policy with his insurance company.

The insurance company refused to pay the $270K hospital bill until my brother settled the other aspects of the case. The hospital sent the bills to a collection agency.

My brother, because he is a dick, a lawyer, and wealthy, sued the insurance company. Because he is wealthy, he was able to spend $380K to sue his own insurance company.

He was able to win $1.4 in damages - his policy coverage plus legal fees.

Most people would not have the financial resources to have dealt with this.

The lesson is, carry an appropriate amount of insurance and do not take the first offer.

Glad you are okay Chris.

I was rear ended, and everything seemed Ok. About a week later everything went to shit. Took me about 6 months to fully heal. All our best, Hope you end up better and stronger.

I meant that in the context of making money. Education certainly helps in science, research, engineering, education, etc.

Yes, I graduated HS at 14, started at PCC when I was 15 (they wouldn’t let me start earlier). When I turned 18 I had 2 associates and transferred to a university to play baseball. (In hindsight, I should have gone straight to university at 14. But, I loved sports and wanted to pursue baseball) I have a bachelors and was applying to a MBA/JDS program, but helped start the company I’m at now.

See, I think we agree tho. Learning doesn’t happen exclusively in a school setting. Sadly, that’s where the majority of it occurs tho. I learned quickly after college, that if I wanted to
continue learning I could do so, without higher formal education.

Business Management, minor in HR and Econ.

I can, yes. I’m not a GC tho. I’m a consultant.

Yes, I took two years of accounting and did bookingkeeping to make money. I actually wrote an accounting program to account for about $320mm.

I opened an office 7 months ago.

I did our company’s marketing for our first three years, then, we grew and we hired someone to
do it.

Yep.
I do, but have never used because I’ve been able to use cash.
Yep.
Yep.

I have been looking at buying more homes. My first investment home, I lived in for 2 years and a few days. Ended up making 40%, paying off all debt and putting a lot down on my current house. When I get back from Thailand, I’ll be buying a second home, which will be 100% reimbursed and I’ll airbnb when I’m not there (3-4 days a week).

Looking forward to it!

Well, F. I haven’t posted here in forever. Will be in. Bangkok for next week. There’s a nice gym and pool so will start hitting weights again.

Thanks everyone for feedback. Backs doing well, lots and lots of massages in Thailand. It’s been kind of odd, cause the accident occurred 1700 miles from home. When I got back home, I was there for 6 days before I left for Thailand.

So it was his company, wouldn’t the money he won be his own money? Wtf :joy:

I believe he means the insurance company who provides him an insurance policy. Not that the insurance company is HIS company*.

He doesn’t own the insurance company - it was his own uninsured motorist policy and he had to sue to collect.

Insurance companies are like that. They say “no” early and often, and get away with it a lot. Coverage be damned.

Back from vacay. I lost 1.5lbs while gone. Unfortunately, I’m also incredibly sick and haven’t kept food down since Thursday/Wednesday.

Hoping to feel better and maybe lose a few more lbs #positivity.

Edit: also jet lagged af, but I can’t sleep because my stomach is constantly in pain.

This current stomach bug has me down to 212. Down almost 5lbs. Crazy what not eating for four days does to you. I think I might be in a calorie deficit.

Still sick af. It’s 1:13 am, I’ve been up since 11:30pm and can’t sleep. I don’t know how much food has actually stayed in me. I had to travel for work and will return tomorrow (later today?). I wouldn’t be surprised if I broke the 210 barrier. Ive never felt so bad in my life.

Get well soon man. My mom is missing ya…

Yesterday, hit legs and followed with cardio.

Today, morning cardio. Chest tonight with 30 minutes of more cardio. Diet has consisted of rice and deli turkey. Ha.

Travel is crazy right now. Gone T-F this week. . Home on weekend. Return to traveling on Monday, home on Thursday night.
