Dchris's Grappling with Age

Still holding at 211. Had my birthday last week, which set me back a bit. Cardio 6-7 days a week, twice on Wednesday.

Today did HIIT cardio.
100KB swings with 60lber
50 thrusters with (2) 40lber KB

Have you looked at your cholesterol while doing keto. Mine shot up like 50 points. It helped drop fat but wasn’t maintainable for me. Glad you seem to be doing well with it though!

I’m not currently in keto. That post was a year ago. I haven’t ever checked cholesterol while in Ketosis. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was higher. I prefer and feel better on a low carb diet. If I didn’t have to limit protein, I don’t see why I couldn’t be in keto long-term.

Is the lack of carbs a non-starter for you?

Sorry bout that. Didn’t realize the age of the post. Not really on the low carbs thing. I simply felt that once I was at a goal weight or maintenance period that I enjoy a cheat day once a week or so. It’s counterintuitive to be trying to jump in and out of ketosis all the time. Low fat was more conducive to my life.

It’s all good. I’m really bad at posting in here regularly.

My traps and shoulders are incredibly sore from the thrusters yesterday.

Will be doing legs later today. First thing after waking photo.

Coming along slowly. I wouldn’t mind having food poisoning for a week again and losing a quick 7lbs.

I worked 17 hours(including driving) yesterday but still managed to get a back day in and 25 minutes on the eliplitical.
Woke up at 4, left house at 4:23. Drove 3.5 hours. Meetings from 8-6. Gym from 6-7:15. Stopped at store for dinner, then went right back to work for the rest of night. Today was no different. Started at 6, finished at 6. Hit legs and 25 minutes of incline treadmill. Now back to getting shit done and caught up with.

From Sunday to today, I’ve worked 46 hours already. It took everything in me not to get a pint of ice cream and a bottle of bourbon instead of going to the gym.

Friday
20 minutes morning cardio

Saturday
Shoulder workout and 40 minutes elliptical

Looking good man!

I can attest to that! On our weekly calls I am constantly so impressed that @dchris is so consistent with his training and nutrition, while maintaining an insane work schedule. He’s made a ton of progress already, lost quite a bit of fat, gained quite a bit of muscle and we are just getting started.

@robstein thanks boss! I’m too close to slow down now.

Sunday Morning

Didn’t have much time, and losing an hour this morning didn’t help. Fortunately, I have baseball practice tonight so, more cardio! Ha

Monday morning
20 minutes cardio

Wasn’t expecting to travel until Tuesday, but had to leave Monday. Got a back workout in and 30 minutes on treadmill.

Tuesday Night
Legs
30 minutes on elliptical

Diet has been on-point. Hoping to wake up and be shredded, just not sure which day that’ll be.

Wednesday - Long ass day. Started at 6am, meetings from 730-6. Left office eat 730 too mentally drained and hungry to lift.

Thursday morning - Chest workout followed by 30 minute walk on incline

Also, snapped the below this morning - #feelingleanmightdeletelater @robstein

Was down .5lbs today. Sooo… that’s cool. Incredibly tough week. Left my house at 730 this morning and just got to my AirBnB at 915. Was able to sneak an hour in at the gym today. 25 minutes of back and biceps with 35 on elliptical. I’ve got a hyuge proposal to present tomorrow afternoon, which was just scheduled 3 hours ago. So, I need to pull that together tonight. Also… need to prepare for meetings that begin at 6am and end 12:30pm.

On the personal side, I’m really lagging as a the president of an organization. If someone else wanted to do my job, I’m sure they’d fire me. Haha.

I need a staycation really bad. Only going to spend 9 nights this month in my own bed.

How old are you? Your work responsibilities are crazy! I went back in your log a little bit and saw the stuff to The Myth about how you were a child prodigy and all. Man, I wish we had the option to finish high school early. I’d never heard of such a thing until well after the fact. It’s not that I’m a genius or anything, but I felt like my high school was full of fluff and I could’ve taken care of the required stuff pretty fast.

Is there any slowing down ahead of you or are you going to be one of those guys who does this forever? You are definitely committed to your gym goals to squeeze training into this crazy schedule.

I am 29.

Fortunately, It was suggested to me.

This is a tough one. I like to work. I like to be challenged. I turned a half time project into a new office with 4 employees I oversee, and $210mm under management in less than 8 months. I’m realizing that you can’t ramp up to achieve X and assume once achieved you can slow down. You have to maintain that pace or ramp up harder.

I am, but I’m also a very habitual person. I used to be addicted to ice cream, candy bars and alcohol. I just traded those for work and working out. I put 17+ hours in yesterday and 14 today, I also lifted. Just more or less shifted addictions.

Today’s workout
Went to bed around 1am. Woke up at 5, went to gym, 30 minutes elliptical.

@robstein I was a very bad person today. I finally presented my proposal and it was accepted. A hyuuuuge contract for us. I felt incredibly relieved after. I started my proposal in December… Instead of hitting gym, I hit the bar with my colleague. 6 doubles of Makers Mark and a trivia night. :man_shrugging:t2::man_facepalming:t2:

Crazy commitment man

Any tactics you can share for coping with limited sleep consistently? Other than growing a pair of testicles and just doing it?

The first is to deal with the mental anguish of waking up early… beyond the bed is comfortable and my eyes want to be closed. I can’t see until I put contacts in, but I can’t put them in immediately. I have to wait 10-15 minutes. Upon waking, I have water, energy drink, clothes all laid out and ready to go. The goal is to use as little mental capacity as possible. Shoes and socks by door, phone, wallet, keys, headphones accessible. Breakfast already thought through and easily prepared. Etc. etc.

Then, I base my sleep on REM cycles. My REM cycles are approximately 80 minutes… which 3 cycles is 4 hours. That’s when the brain goes from deep sleeping to light sleep. If the alarm goes off at light sleep, then it’s far easier to get up.

Thursday Morning
Woke up: 415
Gym: 5

Chest, tris and elitical

Office: 615

Hoping to head home today around 4pm, which should have me home by 745-8. Depends how frisky I’m feeling, might do some cardio tonight or throw the weight vest on and go for a walk. My wife doesn’t like me walking around looking like I have body armor on during lit hours.

Congrats on the contract! Drinks are definitely an acceptable cheat given your hard work and dedication to your training. Abs can wait; big deals in the corporate world can’t.

At least I think that’s how it works. I have no idea.
