I appreciate that man! You’re definitely a big solid bloke and there are a lot of people out there that would kill for your gains brotha! Just gotta keep working and keep gaining!
have you ever thought about running only muscle rounds for like 6 weeks? I was laying in bed thinking about that last night . . I probably won’t but would be interested to see what happens if you did
I’ve done it for two weeks as a cruise for a 6 week training blast, and it might be a fun thing to try, but I also enjoy the stimulus from the loading and pump sets. I’ve been rocking with Tier 1 the last few blasts so I haven’t even been doing muscle rounds for arms or hamstrings, but if I were to do muscle rounds only, I’d probably train just 3 days a week and I would do them for all body parts
First workout back in Canada during my deload or “intensive cruise” phase. Busted this one out in just under 40 minutes. Cardio actually felt pretty good. Went very minimalist with the equipment used and it was really perfect. Just felt great to get back in there and crush it. I’ve been chomping at the bit. Lower muscle rounds tomorrow and those should be really sweet too. Don’t know what it’ll entail yet, but still hyped. I’ll start brainstorming tonight and make the final decisions in the weight room tomorrow.
Sick pump and sweet progression today. Don’t know what more you could really ask for!
Final session of the intensive cruise before the next training blast starts on Monday. This one was lightning quick. 30 minute session. In and out. Pushed the intensity to the limit and went home. Had a lot of fun at the local Christmas parade today with my wife’s homemade hot chocolate and had this triumphant balls to the wall session to finish the day off.
banded somersault squat . . I’d be interested to know how you set that up if you don’t mind
Well I made the eleventh hour decision this morning to pivot to Creeping Death by John Meadows! This is one that’s been on my list for a long time and I’m beyond hyped to finally do it! Workout one was insane! Definitely a fun change of pace from what I’ve been doing and even a bit different from many of the other programs of John’s I’ve run! I loved the supersets even though they were extremely hard and zapped my strength really quickly especially on incline presses! I was supposed to add weight every set but I was at or very close to failure every day and couldn’t even hit the numbers a few times. Anyway, this session was a blast and I toasted pretty much my whole upper body!
Crazy intense leg day. Really pushed like a beast today. Those squats were insane. Everything was brutal today. Session only took about 45 minutes! Got back tomorrow and I look forward to seeing what that entails!
Quick but potent back day today. I’m a big fan of anything that has me supersetting pull-ups, so I really enjoyed that! The stretchers after that were brutal! Going to enjoy a rest day before I hit chest & shoulder Pump day and arms this weekend!
Arm day today! Snuck some of the work from the chest & shoulder pump session in here as well since tomorrow will be a rest day and I’ll start fresh with legs on Monday. This was a really fun session and I’m always such a fan of bicep/Tricep supersets. Man that felt great. Ended up going with close grip bench instead of JM Press since this tends to feel better and I perform it somewhat similarly to a JM Press.
Chest and Shoulders today. Really it’s a full Upper Body day, which is why I chose to do it today and do legs next, to annex this session from the other various upper days to come. Really press oriented, which is awesome to me because I absolutely love pressing. This session was an absolute joy. A torturous joy.
Very intense leg day. Big hard superset preceding squats today really destroyed my quads. Same can be said for that brutal Hamstring circuit to start the session. Feel like I’m responding extremely well and every workout has been under an hour so far. Most sessions are about 45 minutes. I’ve really gotten fast with the setup and my conditioning has been good enough to withstand very brief rest periods. Fortitude Training definitely got me in good shape, and I think anyone that run That program with success will say the same thing.
Getting hyped as Christmas draws nearer!
Back day. This one was really fun. Really enjoyed the Meadows Row/One Arm Barbell Row superset. That was creative. One arm Barbell is harder so maybe in the future, I’d try that one first. Although a lot of Bodybuilding is disadvantaging yourself, so maybe there’s some brilliance there and I should leave it alone! Neutral Grip Pulldowns have been money for me lately. Really loving these. Recovering super well between sessions right now. John was definitely supremely intelligent with program design. Hyped for arms tomorrow!
If I had guns like you, I would be pretty hyped for arm day too.
Does hype for arm training cause big arms or do big arms create hype for arm training? A real chicken or the egg scenario, but I can tell you that I’ve always loved training arms! Big arms were the first thing I cared about as a kid getting into this!
I feel you mate. For me it was big arms and big chest, but guessing that was the Arnie and Louie influence. I always struggled to get a good bicep pump but my forearms were jacked. LOL
Those were definitely my two biggest influences when I started too. My dad was as well, but he showed me Pumping Iron and I was hooked. I also loved Lou as the Hulk. I feel you on the forearm thing too! I didn’t start using straps on anything until a couple of years ago and I think that helped build my forearms, along with wrestling. It took me a few years to figure out Chest training.
Crazy what a process this all is. It just doesn’t all click from day 1. There’s just time and experience that needs to be gained and experimentation that needs to be done. When I started, I wanted to be big by yesterday, but I think the fact that it is such delayed gratification really made me grateful for all that I’ve had to learn along the way to help me get every small bit of progress.
great quote and agreed!!
