Too late! ![]()
Yeah you are already a beast @davemccright looking amazing!
Agreed - he does
I appreciate that man but I do have some weak points I want to address, mostly within my quads, because I waited until 2020 to start training them seriously, so they’re playing catch-up. My quad separation and sweep of my vastus lateralis need to come up
Really really awesome session today. Lower Load “B” and Upper Pump. Used figure 8 straps to help hold the bar in the “Rack” position on my upper chest/delts. Worked pretty well but totally lost that rack position still on rep 7. Still getting better at those. Paired it with Sissy hacks, which was a little awkward to do with just a barbell in a power rack but I put a plate under my heels and it helped with stability and I was able to horse some loads beyond what I was expecting!
All of the Upper Pump work was really taken to an extreme level today. These Pump sets can be absolutely diabolical if you do them right and incorporate some of the advanced techniques like 5s into the hole or reverse 21s! And of course the stretches really feel like they finish off the muscle-really eeking out every last bit of juice they have left in the tank!
Really hyped about today’s lift. Loaded with PRs! I’ve really gotten good at torturing myself with these Pump sets! Seriously, my legs are cooked and my upper body is relatively fresh, and it was the inverse yesterday. 5s into the hole, Reverse 21s or just high rep straight sets. Pick your poison, it’s all brutally tough. Sissy squats, even though they were unweighted, had me dying!
Pumped up for muscle rounds this weekend! I’ll have to give some thought to what I might do, but it’s always an exciting process!
Lower body muscle rounds! It was humid as hell in the garage today. All of the weights had a coat of condensation on them. Ended up making the somersault squats a little hard because the dumbbells wanted to keep slipping and digging into my forearms. The Goblet squat 5s into the hole produced some of the most intense quad burn I’ve ever felt. Truly next level Pain, especially following the somersault squats which already lit me up.
Also a learning experience with the dumbbell hamstring curls today, figuring out the best way to hold them so they don’t slip down my leg to my knee crease or fall out from between my feet. I ended up figuring it out and got one of the most intense connections with my hamstrings that I’ve had. The stretches were all miserable(in the best way) today too.
Getting a gnarly leg pump kind of sucks because of that intense pain, especially because Fortitude Training features only continuous reps. Nothing is rest paused. You just keep pumping those reps until you no longer can and that’s when you face true failure, usually a little earlier than you would with a set where you rest pause your reps a little more as you approach failure.
You follow that up with an extreme stretch or an occlusion stretch and you’re looking at some extreme pain/burn in the muscle but just an engorged pump as well. I am such a huge fan of this training system but the amount of Fortitude required to do the sessions, truly makes it live up to its name!
Have you thought about Nordic curls for your hamstrings at home ? Shouldn’t be too hard to set up.
Yes I sure have! I plan on incorporating those very soon! I may not be able to do concentrics yet, but should be able to get some negatives at least. Or do them Banded around myself to get more concentrics
Final session of week 2 and last session of this blast at Volume Tier I! I’ll move up to Tier II on Wednesday!
Today featured a lot of exercises that I have not done in quite a while. Huge fan of the novel stimuli here! Pushed everything to the limit today and got out of the garage after about 54 minutes today. Great workout!
I just got the Iron Mind Super Squat Hip Belt in the mail today! So of course, I had to put it to use immediately! It was very awkward to set up on the bar initially, but I eventually found the right balance and good lord this was hard!! I used 135 for my heaviest set and was HUMBLED!! The Dumbbell Hamstring Curl was also very cool but very hard. I’m excited to have that one in the rotation since I no longer have a machine leg Curl.
Today was my first day at Volume Tier II and it was brutally hard. Especially on the pump sets. If your progress the volume during a blast appropriately, it’s pretty killer and I’m feeling it right now! Going to hit Upper Load/Lower Pump tomorrow then drive to Oklahoma with my wife to visit my family. Very excited! Definitely going to hit some muscle rounds in my old gym!
This is code for ‘going to flex on everyone at my old gym’ Quality
Hahaha that’s right! Blow their minds with mass previously thought impossible!
Yeeeeeeaah baby
Last workout before I hit the road (16 hour drive) back to Oklahoma tomorrow! Heavy upper and lower pump. Finally got a new bench, so I was able to do a lot more traditional chest work today and had a sturdy seat/back support for behind the neck press!
This session was exactly what I needed. It was really fun to go in and hammer this out this evening. All of my client calls ran late so I was in the gym way later than usual, which actually was sweet because I felt very energized and enthusiastic! Volume Tier II has been brutal and fun. Not sure if I’ll spend another week at this tier or if I’ll bump it to Tier III next week. I’ll play it by ear and see how I feel after the two muscle rounds sessions.
So much be gainz to be had. Yeah baby
That’s right man! A garage gym isn’t complete without a good bench!
Beautiful Lower Body Muscle rounds today! Back in my old gym for the time being! Very cool to hit some of the exercises that I simply haven’t been able to for a while! My legs and bis were smoked after this!
Late night Upper Body Muscle rounds before an early morning to hit the zoo with the wife! If I hurry to bed I can 6.5 hours of sleep, which for me is basically a nap. Hopefully it’s at least high quality! We played mini golf tonight with my brother and had a blast. I narrowly won, even though I was the only one to not get a single hole-in-one!
Seriously had perhaps the best Pump of my life. Had about 14 grams of pure l-citrulline and The Pump was just nasty. Had a chest vein and delt veins while just chilling! Usually those only pop up when I flex really hard. I went all machines today because I was feeling super run down and this has been a really busy week. That’s a luxury I’m not usually afforded in the garage, but that could easily become a crutch, so there’s a fine line.
Looking forward to another long but fun day tomorrow!
Pics or it didn’t happen.
