This gave me a good laugh and looking back on your photo, it just seemed so accurate!

But you miss the 10c and endless grey skies and rain, right…?

Well I ended up settling on The High Evolutionary by John Meadows, the Mountain Dog himself. This is a program I bought over the summer and have just been sitting on for a while. I’ve been super excited about this one. It’s really high intensity, so it’s right up my alley.

We open things with leg day and let me say, this was a classic Down and dirty, hardcore old school Mountain Dog leg session. Nothing like going all-out, balls to the wall for your to set and just getting right to your best exercise. I enjoy some high volume stuff, but after the super high volume of 28 Days Later, it feels nice to strip away some of that volume of work and just really dial in max intensity and getting every last bit out of my sets. The leg press Cluster set was a different level of brutal today.

Chest and shoulder day today. I really enjoyed this one. Love working the beach muscles. Slight decline Smith Press was awesome. Gonna keep trying to push my weights on these exercises on up. My legs are still feeling fried from yesterday’s workout. Excited to really push hard throughout this program and see just how jacked we get!

Mountain Dog knows Arm Day! As always, awesome exercise selection and a high level of intensity as every set was taken to failure! Also got some Calf and Tibialis work in at the end.

Post Thanksgiving Physique update

Weight was at 208 tonight

Nice! I also like going back and forth between volume and intensity, and I like the base split like in Hugh Evolutionary. Did you take a look at any on the Black Friday sale? You’ve got a bunch of his programs now anyway so you might not need any.

Haha yes I did. I sent my wife the link and let her know that Carnage and Creeping Death I are on my Christmas list! I find that once I get burned out on high volume, switching to high intensity is the perfect cure and Vice versa. Keeps me fresh mentally and physically

Nice heavy leg day to end the week. Really happy about hitting 300 for 10 reps on squat, which I’ve only hit once before. The fact that I had a rep or two in the tank felt extra good. The heels on a 35 pound plate has been a huge game changer. I feel so stable and am able to easily go A2G. Cluster set on hack squat was delightfully devilish(Seymour).

Nice work crushing 10 reps at 300! I find it a lot easier to squat ATG with heels raised as well - weightlifting shoes made it a lot comfier.

Thank you! And I agree, elevated heels are a game changer for squats! My ankle mobility sucks, so the elevated heels really helps me squat more like Tom Platz, which in the eyes of I and many is the ideal way to squat.

Chest and shoulders today. Got some big PRs in. Put up 130s on Dumbbell incline for the first time ever and 285x8 on incline press, another personal best! Finished things off with an amazing pump in the chest and delts. I’ve seldom had better cheat days in my life. Just got to keep rolling.

Thanks brother! It’s certainly come a long way! In 2020 I was hitting 185 on incline with worse form lol

Not going to lie, I had to google Platz. Glad I did, what a beast. I prefer that style over powerlifting as well - surprised that’s common here as you can usually lift a fair bit more with low bar/wider stance.

The more upright stance and allow the knees to travel further forward which uses more quads and less glutes and lower back

Ideal back day today. Was really connecting with my lats the entire workout. Really felt minimal bicep involvement, which for me is a bit rare since I’m so arm dominant. My back was so fried by the end. My last attempt to squeeze out an extra rep on the incline rows saw the weight just barely move. My back training is really taking the next step right now and I’m hyped about it.
