Davemccright's Dangerous Dave’s Diabolical Log for Density and Destruction

I definitely try to follow in the footsteps of the champions before me!

I’ve been pretty bad about keeping my log up to date, but I’m catching up today! Chest and quads yesterday, I pretty much never do chest first but I did yesterday just to mix it up! Felt good! I was feeling great and quads went really well too. Just had a lot of extra juice in the tank it felt like! Really just have been loving the insane chest and quad pumps in these sessions! The chest and quad veins with the pump are still pretty new to me, but a very cool and welcome sight!!

Back and Hams today was insanely good and completely exceeded my expectations going in because I did not sleep very well. But that first set of Chin ups felt so amazing and I was feeling so connected to my body, I really knew it was going to be a fantastic workout! The mind Muscle connection with the back was just on point and I felt so dialed in to every area I was trying to hit with each exercise! I felt strong too! I was able to go up in weight on almost everything! Same story for hams. Felt really strong and connected until about 5 sets into the RDLs, that’s when the pain and fatigue in the hammies started to set in and I really had to lock in and focus to finish it out. Calves and abs were basically a breeze after that by comparison!

Like so many others I’ve been following your impressive progress. As disciplined as you are with your training, If you don’t mind sharing, I’m interested in your views on nutrition.

I suppose my views on Nutrition are really simple. I really like to eat high protein, minimum of 1 gram per pound of bodyweight, but really closer 1.2 grams. I weigh 190 and generally eat 225 grams of protein per day. I try to get my protein from animal sources, meat, eggs and Then supplementing with protein powder pre and sometimes post workout. My carb sources are generally fruits and vegetables and potatoes and rice. Occasionally, I’ll have pasta. I like to eat most of my calories around my workout window, as I feel that’s the time where my body is most likely to use it for muscle growth and repair. I stick with mostly lean protein and carbs here. I adjust my daily calories to whatever my goals are, I just lower the non protein calories if I’m trying to cut fat or increase non protein calories if I’m more focused on building muscle. Very simple. I try to keep fat around 50-75 grams per day and not drop below 50 to support healthy testosterone production, even during a cut.

I’ve been meaning to ask since you mentioned it in another log, which of the David’s bars do you like? Because after you mentioned it, I bought some chocolate chip ones, and they’re super nasty to me. Like, I can’t even make it through a whole bar.

But the things give an awesome protein hit for the calories, so I want to find one I can like.

The brownie, red velvet, blueberry pie and cinnamon roll are my favorites. Cinnamon roll kind of smells and tastes like gingerbread

Have you tried the chocolate chip? I’m wondering if the other flavors are different, or I’m just reacting to something in the brand.

I actually like the chocolate chip! Maybe I’m weird but I remember liking that one. I haven’t disliked any of them. Maybe just try out individual bars and hopefully you find one you like. I like the salty kick

Yesterday was arm day, so you already know it was a great day! I had a nice date night with my wife to close the day out, so I’m really happy about yesterday overall! My day has been so busy today, it’s taken me several different times coming back to this page just to get this log entry completed!

I was really locked in yesterday. I was able to hit shoulders hard and even a little heavier than usual! Added a couple of sets to my arm Supersets, which definitely increased the challenge and pump! Enjoying the rest day today before I resume hitting it hard this weekend!

That is a fine looking arm session!

It was a damn good one! Just a Rock solid basic session, which is really all you need!

Quads and Chest today and you better believe it was a devious session and the pump was simply heinous! I have a feeling I’m going to be very sore for days to come! I was feeling ultra locked in. The machine chest press, in particular, was feeling just immaculate!! Looking forward to some back and hams before watching some football tomorrow!

And my views on Nutrition summed up in one photo:

Yesterday was very much an abbreviated session for me. I was short on time to get my workout finished before the Steelers game and my hamstrings were still sore. But I absolutely crushed everything that I went in and did. And I do mean crushed it! My back and hams are both super sore today! Thankfully it’s just shoulders and arms today!

Shoulders and arms meant it was automatically a great day, no matter what the rest of the day had to bring! The rest of the day was actually awesome though! Got the Switch 2 and spent the night playing the new Mario Kart with my wife! A day that will go down in history!

I know I’ve been inactive on here, had a 16+ hour road trip Wednesday and just got to hit a lift last night. Felt great to get back after it. Chest and Quads! Just felt so good to get a sweet pump after my cousin’s wedding! Back and hams tonight!

Realizing now that I completely forgot to log my back and hamstring session! It was another really fun one Back at my gym in Oklahoma! Excited to get in there and smash it today! My sleep has stunk since I’ve been to Oklahoma so I really really want to get that cleaned up. I’ve been so busy doing stuff with family and work and lifting that sleep has definitely been on the back burner. I love getting to use some of the equipment at my gym because they have a lot of old Cybex stuff that just feels fantastic! Also love the MAG grips. I do miss the seated Hamstring Curl from the Y, but you’ve gotta do what you’ve gotta do!
