Okay, I’ve decided to just go with what I’ve been wanting to try for a while, Ben Pollack’s “MountainCrapp”. As you may be able to surmise by the name, it’s a blend of John Meadows’ Mountain Dog Training and Dante Trudel’s DoggCrapp aka DC Training. It preserves the exercise sequencing conventions used by John(pre-Pump activation exercises) and follows up it with heavy progressive overload style Rest Pause sets (or heavy sets, followed by lighter weight backoff Widowmaker style sets) for the big muscle groups followed by extreme stretches as seen in DC training. Training sessions still feature the DC inspired AB days with an exercise rotation.
Additionally, there are Pump days á la MountainDog for arms, delts and abs that are more focused on volume and, well, getting a pump!
Today was Day A1, so Chest, Shoulders and Back. I really loved the layout here, but I will say this session was HARD! This setup definitely reminds me a lot of Fortitude Training, so I felt right at home. All of the movements here are ones I’m a really big fan of!
If anyone is curious to learn more, here are the two videos where Ben discusses his thoughts on the two programs and then how to practically apply them:
