AM radio, specifically Rush Limbaugh or G Gordon Liddy, played at unreasonably loud volume for some reason.
Pretty sure half of that volume was just Limbaugh’s voice.
Would have been Boston or Cinderella from my dad.
Oh my parents too. Huge fans.
Fun dad! More Than a Feeling is a great workout song.
Oh wow, I had to look up the story behind that. ![]()
And he played it nonstop?! WHOA. I’ll take some Phil Collins any day.
Technically this was the actual cassette,

That’s just the song I first thought of from your prompt.
Love it. You had a specific song ready! HA!
Patsy Kline, Henry Mancini, Arthur Fiedler. My dad was born in like 1935, so he liked the old old stuff.
The struggle is real…
George Straight, Alabama, or Led Zepplin. Lol
I was familiar with Patsy Cline but had to look up the other two… and oh my goodness. My mom and aunties would love sitting in that car.
Actually come to think of it, I’m pretty sure that the last time I played cards with Aunt Joyce she had a Henry Mancini CD playing in her boom box. And yes, in case you’re wondering, we did listen to the instrumental Pink Panther theme song. ![]()
Okay I want in that car! Take me with youuuuuuu! ![]()
Oh, hell yeah! Done in a full orchestra its amazing.
My dad did audio system design and installation (big ones!) And our system at home was designed to replicate a full orchestral experience.
Great, unless you’re hung over. Which I was, often. Nothing like waking up to the Boston Pops doing the 1812 Overture with cannons shaking you out of bed! ![]()
HAHAHAHA!!
Well, it’s a Ford truck, but you are always welcome!
Let’s go!
Chris and I are leading another group hike this week around these parts:
And of course my brain is trying to figure out what could go wrong, so that I’m prepared when or if it actually does. But sometimes you can’t really think of a solution until you’re in the moment when the stuff happens. Luckily, these are all laidback people. So if stuff happens, we can count on them being gracious. What a relief that is.
This time last year, Chris and I explored totally different mountains.
Unfortunately, this year we’re probably not taking any trips.
Our oldest dog seems to have really slowed down within the past few months and she’s become hard to take on walks. Our longer summer hikes are off the table now because carrying a 35 pound body in your arms would be brutal and none of the doggy backpack carriers fit her long torso.
On occasion I end up carrying her home from just a neighborhood walk. So, given her recent geriatric decline, the thought of leaving her with someone else doesn’t feel right.
On that note:
Are You Watching the Debate?
We’re probably not. But I just saw this on X, and while I don’t recommend it (you’d get blackout drunk), it would be an interesting thing to do with actual water or fizzy water. You’d certainly get hydrated.
Scratch that, you might need an electrolyte drink because that amount of plain water would cause hyponatremia. I just hope we can get a good Bad Lip Reading video out of the whole thing.
Here’s one from last year. The interaction between Romney and the other guy at 30 seconds looks completely accurate. So does Kamala at 2:28.
Holy Cross is one of my top 3 favorite of all the 14ers! I love that mountain!!
You are such an adventurer! I’m just amazed at your athleticism. When Chris and I explored that mountain, we actually took the lift up and then wandered around at the top. We didn’t climb it. You freaking blow my mind! I hope you’re having a beautiful summer.
Oh, and have you started The Housemaid is Watching? (Something tells me you already finished it!) I’m about a quarter through right now. Freida McFadden’s books are so addictive they make me get to bed before 8 pm. LOL!
