I’m sure you have over 400 on your DL now.

You can’t have everything.

There’s the problem right there. You got greedy. Bad karma has to happen to keep the universe in balance.

Serious. You know all of this. Dysfunction happens. Good thing, because it keeps us employed. I know, it’s different when it happens to you. A lot harder to see clearly, and there isn’t always a right answer.

You have a couple of options, both of which require acceptance. You can try to focus on his good qualities and decide he can be in your life, but it will probably always be in a limited way. He will have to take a place somewhere on the periphery, because you’ve accepted that trying to have him be a central figure you can depend on, will likely never happen. Imagine that if you have a son someday, you’d let Grandpa come around, but you are going to let go of expectations and resentment if it doesn’t. Hard to do.

OR, you can go the route Gregron took and accept that you can’t change anther person and their influence in your life is too toxic to have around. If contemplating that brings a feeling of relief, then that might be where you are at. You will know.

Now for some video therapy, I want you to go watch “The Fighter” with Mark Wahlberg. It’s a good example of someone coming to accept a VERY dysfunctional family and learning to set limits on their involvement in his life. I guarantee, you will relate.

  1. My uncle is in jail. My grandfather actually paid 100s of thousands of dollars to try and have the evidence disallowed. The evidence? 1000s (thousands) of hours of video of my uncle raping children mostly under the age of 4. My grandfather knew this, and tried to get it overturned anyway. Fucking whackjobs.

How could there be multiple THOUSANDS of hours?

How did he get away with that?

Surely you are exaggerating alot?

Either way you should disown all of your family. If I were you I wouldn’t have kids of my own either. Grandfather uncle and Dad all major fucked up freaks.[/quote]

Not an exaggeration. He’s been raping toddlers for ages apparently.

What a sick individual!! How was he allowed to get away with this for so long???

Welcome to the dick dad club. He told you crushing news on one birthday and decided to stay home and bone his gf the next. I’m guessing your childhood memories are full of broken promises as well. Punch him out.

One hour every three days for ten years for over a thousand hours. Two decades for two thousand, and they are intimidated/manipulated into not saying anything, or don’t know any better. It reminds me of a horrible child molester in my area who had had been doing it at a minimum of 1.5-2 decades with several hundred charges of rape and ect.

yeah, here’s the fucked up part; my grandfather apparently knew. Back before I was born, my uncle had to suddenly leave Maryland where he was living because, as my grandfather put it “He babysits for a lot of children, and now they’re saying some pretty outlandish things about him doing stuff to the infants and toddlers”. They moved him out of Maryland overnight apparently and he joined the Navy right after.
