Hey I just recently read this program and I think it looks interesting. Has anyone tried it? Or what are some general thoughts about the program itself?
Before its asked, my goals are to get more muscular (for the beach season of course lol) about 10-15lbs or so and to gain a fair amount of strength also. oh, and im 21.
I haven’t done it. If you want to do it and have the time, go ahead and try, don’t let anything stop you.
However I’ll say this. I don’t think I can squat 2 times and deadlift 2 times every week for I don’t know how many weeks. And yes, the volume doesn’t seem much and also yes, he does tell you to use reps less than you can manage. Still…
Here’s my advice, try it if you like it on paper and if you’re motivated. I’d get all sorts of joint and tendon pain at the end of two weeks. If you don’t, more power to you. However, if you do, you can always switch to a more ‘tried/proven’ hypertrophy based program - upper/lower split or hss 100 would be my suggestions.
If you are hellbent on 2-a-days, look up some recent question of strength articles, Poliquin adresses the best way to do 2-a-days, and it makes a whole lot more sense (and is easier to manage) than that program.
yup, you sure can, I’ve gone to 10 sessions a week before.
I’ve used high frequency training intermittently for years, and I like it a lot. I was first turned on to the concept by looking at O-lifting schedules of the Bulgarians etc. Then I saw CW’s Perfect 10 and BB’s new frontier articles as well.
And yes, it’s completely possible to squat and deadlift 2x a week or more. I don’t know why in the world people say it isn’t possible to do heavy squatting and pulling 2x a week, I’ve been doing it for…5 years or so? yeah. Hell, I’ve gone weeks on end squatting and deadlifting 4x a week each.
