Curcumin 500

I took one capsule and about 45 minutes later I noticed kind of a stimulatory effect from it. Is this in some way stimulating the central nervous system? I was hoping to use this supp as an anti-inflammatory but I hate CNS stimulants. Any reason why I would be feeling this effect?

My question is more in terms of treatment rather than prevention of cancer.

Honestly I am at a point of desperation. My mother has a severe case of cancer (Merkel Cell Carcinoma) and is in the middle of her 4th out of 6 consecutive rounds of chemo. She has had surgery, radiation and now the chemo. Surgery and radiation did very little to halt the spread, while the chemo has seemed to have halted the spread, although it is still not shrinking the tumors. My fear is that once the chemo inevitably stops the tumors will start growing again.

This cancer is quite rare and her doctor works with multiple hospitals throughout the country in discussing my mother’s case. The one area they all seem lacking is of course supplementation.

I have convinced my mom to give this product a try. Maybe it does nothing, but to me it is worth a try at this point

I am thinking 3 caps a day? I also tried to get her to try Superfood but to no avail.

Grasping at straws here…any advice (understood this is not medical advice) would be appreciated.[/quote]

I’m sorry to hear what y’all are going through. My only thing to offer is this…

How often have you tried it? Did you have it with food?

This was my first time taking it and I did have some food in my belly. I ate about 20 minutes before I took it. Any thoughts why or have you felt anything stimulatory?

Dude come on use some common sense, you can’t make assumptions on one dose. Try it again, with and without food and report back. It may affect you differently than others.

I appreciate what you are saying but it was stimulating. I was unstimulated prior to taking it. I’m basing that on what I felt. No other supps, coffee or medication in me. I am curious if others are noticing anything. I know one guy prior to my post did. Most of all I’m wondering what is stimulatory about Curcumin if it is indeed?

I will try it later and see if it happens again. No reason to think it won’t though. It was noticeable for me.

I have had the same experience. I noticed a little bit of a tinlge and happy feelings. I would not say I felt ramped up as if I took HOT-ROX, though. I have taken them with and without meals. In fact, I took one at 3:30 this morning and felt the tingle, but was able to fall asleep.

Yeah its not that strong but it is noticeable. I’m going to keep trying it to see if I can get used to it. Any supp that combats inflammation is worth it to me.

You had me at “potent natural anti-inflammatory”. I’ve known about the health benefits of the spice tumeric for years, but have struggled with how to ingest enough of it to actually have significant benefits. The research out on curcumin supports this product.

I would also like to add to the discussion regarding “misc benefits” of this product. I have been taking it for two days…less pain vs. usual…but noticed that “mr. happy” is a bit more “active” than usual (in an unprovoked sense, mind you). There may be merit to this discussion

Are you saying one of the side effects is “wood”? Great…I’m already perverted enough. So it inflames the penis. So much for its ant-inflammatory abilities…hehe.

Anyone else notice that it can stain your hands, fingers or fingernails from the powder residue?

I think one of the capsule broke and coated the rest of my capsules with the powder.

But I will say this, it works great, I have used other brands of curcumin before, but this stuff seem to work faster and helps the soreness on a greater level.

Would it be wise to use this close to a workout? You were talking about consuming it with something fatty (maybe a few fish oil caps) to improve the pharmacokinetics, but if I was to use it around a workout with fat…not so good. I guess the better question would be, how long does this stuff stick around for in the body? Thanks!

Had my 18th session of chemo in 7 weeks on Thursday, which left me with a skull splitting headache. Product came in late morning, I took 1 tab 30 minutes before heaving to pick up my kids from school (that’s about 2 hours after my 4 hours chemo session) and the splitting headache was turned into something manageable. By the time I arrived at the school it was only a dull sensation.
I am not one for placebo effect.

Friday, the exact same thing. I still opted to take only 1 since I wanted to get used to it. Again, after the 19th session, big headache, blurred vision. Took 1 cap and 30-60 minutes later managed fine.

On Saturday, 5 days of chemo in a row really hit me but I had promised to take my youngest to see the fireworks.
Spent all day in bed BUT took 2 caps 2 hours before fireworks. Felt like shit BUT NO HEADACHES and thus was able to attend the show with my boy.

I am not often impressed with a product.

Thanks to Alwyn for recommending and thanks to Biotest for making it and getting it to me so darn quick.
Two more weeks of chemo and I am going to take 4 a day.

Very well done.

as far as joints are concerned, how do they feel after taking this?
Im taking ANIMAL FLEX right now, just for mantenacne i gues, and was wondering how it would compare in terms of joint health. Would it be better? Worse? etc.
Oh and if you were to use this as your sole joint supplement, how many doses should you take a day?

I had a bout of back pain last week and took a double dose on Thursday and Friday and really noticed a reduction in the pain. Before I had some pain just sitting sometimes, but it has pretty much dissapated, so it seems the Curcumin 500 did what it was supposed to do. Hopefully it will help my nagging turf toe that has been bothering me.

I’ve been taking it every AM since it arrived, as noted earlier in this forum. Same great results - markedly reduced inflammation and perceived pain - systemically - 30-40 minutes after a 2 Cap dose, as well as a general feeling of ‘well being’ in that my mood is a bit lighter.

My wife had a recurring Desmoid Tumor removed from her abdomen last fall, and I’m going to have her start on it.

I think Cosgrove is right - the stack of Rez V, Circumin and Superfood needs to be a daily regimen for overall health and preventative measures. As I’ve gotten older, the value of joint maintenance, balance and recovery have really become apparent. I also take Glucosamine (2G) and 8-10 G of MSM per day and notice a significant difference for my joints.

I agree Jason.

I had a Doctor a couple years ago tell me my piriformis muscle was irritating my sciatic nerve in my right glute. It happens to physically active people. It can be very painful taking your whole right leg out of commission making you hobble about. Mostly it just hurts in the glute area where the nerve and muscle make contact. I have to do a lot of stretching especially when its leg day. Its just something I deal with. Stretching helps some. Motrin not much. I don’t do narcotics for pain relief or at all.

This supp is actually easing the pain more than Motrin and I am able to stretch more comfortably too. It takes 2 at once for the best pain management although one works a little as well. I do find them just a little stimulating but not like a CNS stimulant. Its very mild. I prefer my supps not to make me feel anything. This one I am going to try for awhile and see if it is worth using. I like how it is helping my chronic pain so far. Looks hopeful.

I have a microscopic tear where the bicep attaches to the forearm. My doc wanted me to take 800mg of ibuprofen 3X/day to reduce inflammation and “no weight training”. When I asked how long, his response was “depends, maybe 6 months.” Surgery not an option until at this time. I told him I would just deal with the pain.

I have taken curcumin for a couple of days now and have noticed a decrease in pain at 2/day. I will increase to 4/day in a couple more days.

I posted in this discussion group about a problem I had with a bottle of curcumin. That afternoon I received two emails (Mod Brian and customer service) followed by a phone call that evening from customer service.

Today I received a new bottle of curcumin in the mail. All I can say is that is first class customer service, thank you to those involved.

If the product works nearly as well it should be a winner.

Happy customer

how will this help, hurt, or AFFECT menstrual cramps?! I don’t ever really get any other pains (knock on wood!), but when I’m raggin’… oh man that could really hurt my training day!
