CT & Professor X's Discussion

hmm… Refering to what CT said, ive been “overweight” for 6 years straight, from 7, to 13. Now i just think im a bit “heavy” but im still the heaviest/slowest, so i dunno. I dont like labelling myself, but you know what i mean. Im pretty sure i was 20%+ bf for all those years. Recently loseing over 20lb i feel better and stuff, but yea… overall i was fat for 6 yrs.

@canadianML:
yep, true, but problem is, im at neither, im not a skinny 6-pack guy, and im not a “built” guy. =/

@CT: Is there like a number or percentage to how much the fat cells hyperplast in youth?
Kid, if that is you in your avatar, YOU ARE NOT
“A BIT HEAVY”. You are a freaking kid who hasn’t even finished puberty yet. Quit looking to label yourself as ANYTHING.

I would not define you as obese from your pic; so there’s hope.

I think you look much worse than you could simply because you have the muscle mass of a 120lbs girl beneath the fat.

Honestly you really shouldn’t care about that. My guess is that you were never really fat enough to cause a significant fat cell hyperplasia and even if you did THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT!!! So stop worrying about what you can’t change!

Do you know that muscle is the most metabolically active tissue in the body. This means that the more muscle you have, the more calories you burn even at rest.

The take home message is that if you put on muscle, you will have an easier time losing fat and even until you lose tha fat you’ll at least look solid.

hm then i guess i am exactly on the verge of FFB

shrugs

seems to be true too, ive gained weight back, despite losing it the right way, pretty quick, but my lifts go up so who cares

I’ll take this as answering my question above.

Like I say, I bet if everybody sat in a room together and discussed this, there wouldn’t be that much difference in views.

This guy is VERY young and suffering from all the body image/what do the girls think/am I normal hoopla that every single young person growing up in the civilized world goes through.
he’s also approaching the age where he’ll soon be certain that not even the Britannica folks will have anything to teach him. I’m sure none of us remember those days huh?

I like how as the discussion turned to all parties agreeing they don’t like labels like FFB, a number of people hopped in trying to then label themselves as FFBs.

lol

hey like the articles here say, controversy is good

I took a bf% test (some online thing) and it said im 11.5%.

Yea i get what ur all saying, i just needed some clarifaction, thx.

ahzaz,

Like others have said, you are way too concerned about looks right now. What you need is a goal in the future so you can move towards that instead of wading around in a mass of self-loathing.

My goal for you, by 17 (so in 3 years) be big and cut enough to date college girls. Forget about the high school girls. This means lift heavy and often, and eat enough that your weight keeps going up but your fat is relatively stable. On your 17th birthday, let that be the first day you worry about getting cut.

Study hard and save your money for the college girls.

I just realized this at the top of the page:
TESTOTERONE NATION | World’s Largest Bodybuilding and Weight Loss Underground Nation

Since how long has this been “underground”?

Since 1998

Also for the person looking for the ex fat guy holding his skin here it is :

i think the problem with newbs today is they overanalyze everything. with all the information that is available, they cant think for themselves.

I think what people fail to understand is that in general, person x will gain no more muscle if he trains hard and:
A. Ate 1000 calories over his maintainence
B. Ate 2000 calories over his maintainence.

The body will decide what it will use the extra calories for, and considering everyone is limited on how much muscle they can build within a certain set of time, going way overboard with calories doesn’t ensure more muscle is being built, it ensures more fat is being stored. I guess my point is that 150 LB “hardgainer” will not not synthasize any more protein to build muscle if he eats 5000 calories a day as opposed to 4000. SUPER HIGH CALORIE DIETS DON’T LEAD TO INCREASED PROTEIN SYNTHESIS IN THE NATURAL TRAINIEE.
Who here has ever written anything about “super high calorie diets”? You should be eating enough to gain weight if the goal is gains in muscle mass. I don’t see where anyone has suggested in any way that the approach should be “super high calories” unless that is what is actually needed to GAIN WEIGHT.

There are going to be people who need more calories to see any weight increase. If that number just happens to be 5,000cals a day, so be it.

I really don’t understand those of you who think in such extremes that you hear others talking about what someone should do to see progress and you jump to some conclusion that involves an attempt at obesity. Where do you all get this from? Why so much fear of eating enough to grow?

I agree. I alove threads like this, where I can read about these intelligent and experienced lifters discuss very relevant and important topics. I also like that the newbie is part of this discussion as well and is getting direct advice from some of the best on this website.

I learn so much from this.

Agreed 100%

You know PX; I’m actually quite sure that in many instances I actually recommend a higher caloric intake than you do; but I’m the ‘‘stay ripped and don’t grow guy’’ and you are the ‘‘get big but fat guy’’. Perception is an odd thing!!!

I don’t even have anything to argue with you about. We seem to be on the same page with the only difference being HOW we write. I just hope this helped clear up what was obviously a huge disconnect between the message and those it was intended for.
