CT & Professor X's Discussion

how do you all think muscle memory plays into this discussion

i see it maybe like this
in another words u bulk up to gain muscle at a faster rate but also put on more fat… u then lost the fat … but also lose some of the muscle… but with muscle memory that muscle should be easier to regain the next time around… meaning u dont need to eat as many calories and hence dont put on the fat when u regain said muscle

is this point at all valid? i dont know much about muscle memory and would like some insight from anyone who does

What do YOU mean by this? No tricks, from me I mean, I’m just curious how you define it.

Great, now we got 14 year old kids labeling themselves. Shame, he could’ve gotten somewhere with his physique.
Christian Thibaudeau wrote:
I’m a FFB and can maintain 8% body fat easily without really eating that good. BUT to reset my set point I had to make a lot of efforts to stay very lean for 2-3 years. Then the body adjusted and it’s much easier for me to stay lean.
So if u stay lean long enough ur body adapts (hard to say but ill try to say what i mean) u know where ur body is used to a certain amount of fat so it always tries to stay at it? staying does staying lean change that set point?
As for your question about your friends, one word: genetics. Some peoples are naturally built to be lean. They combine:

 1. A naturally high insulin sensitivity, which basically means that for the same amount of food they eat they produce less insulin and if you produce less insulin you will store less food as fat.

 2. A spentdrift metabolism as opposed to a thrifty metabolism seen in those who gain fat easily. Without going into too much details, a spentdrift metabolism means that more excess calories are spent as heat or semi-unvoluntary movements and thus less is stored as fat. On the opposite end, a thrifty metabolism is more effective at storing nutrients are fat. So for the same amount of food they eat, they will gain more fat.
Hmm… well normally (even in summer) my feet are freezing, does that mean i have a slow metabolism becuase my body heat itself up and spend the extra calories?
ALSO do not neglect the fact that MAYBE your friends are really not eating as much as you think they are. Just because you seen them eat one junk meal every 2 days or even one every day, doesn’t mean that they are eating a lot of food.

So if your friends are eating shitty food, they can still be eating very little calories during the day and as a result, and coupled with their higher insulin sensitivity and good metabolism, it allows them to not gain fat.
well what u said about them not eating a lot of food, i have a close friend, who ive seen eat daily about a box of poutine from our school (lots of cheese, gravy, and he tops it off with ketchup) AFTER hes done eating his lunch. He goes home, and he eats 2 personal pizzas (it said 23g of fat per pizza or something) and a bag of chips. He has pretty good vascularity, and a 8-pack
As for your questions about moobs, veins and abs. I cannot answer that as it’s an individual thing.

Plus, moobs are often due to excessively high estrogen (female hormone) levels, not only fat.
Wait, so should i look into anti-estrogen at MY age? i think it would be dangerous, but i dont know.

im not labeling myself, i was just asking whats considered a FFB

Cold hands and feet could mean poor circulation…

anti-estrogen…wait till you go through puberity, where a lot of the extra bodyfat you’re carrying will go away, then deal with any issues if they’re remaining (highly doubt it).

Should i consult a doctor? just incase?

do u or anyone else have a copy of this debate in its entirety i would be very interested in reading it … but i heard it was rumored to have been deleted

No offense but the kid is 14 years old. There is no need to start filling his head with non-existent conditions.

hell, he’s already thinking he’s fat.

That’s still not that much food. Also, like CT said, he might just eat a huge lunch (or a couple big meals in the middle of the day) and not much else during the rest of the day.

There are those of us (such as myself) who have naturally high metabolisms that must eat in the vicinity of 5,000 calories a day to gain muscle. Your friend in the above example isn’t even close to that unless he’s eating like that for the entire day. And I’m not even close to the top as far as how much some people eat.

Everyone has their advantages and challenges. You complain because you have a hard time saying lean. I sometimes complain BECAUSE I’m naturally so lean. Stop worrying about what your friends do and figure out what works for you. You need to get to know your body. If you have a slow metabolism then look for advice from others who also have slow metabolisms. But stop worrying about things like “moobs”. That’s doing nothing but taking your focus away from the truly important foundational elements that make a diet/training program effective.

i dont want the damn albacrombie and finch body, but thats suppossed to be the perfect body for some reason. And moobs, i wore a shirt when we went swimming at school, this other dude didnt, he got ridiculed so badly, hes a nice kid who hardly talks, but JUST for having moobs, ppl made fun of him. Shallow shallow people. Even the girls are the same way, they ALL prefer the anorexic looking guy.

Hey man I understand that highschool can be rough, and I’m not trying to down play your struggles. I’m trying to point out to you that wasting time worrying about details like at what bf% “moobs” appear isn’t doing you any good.

You want to worry about something worry about getting good grades, worry about getting in the gym and working hard to achieve your physique goals (or about figuring out what steps to take to achieve those goals), worry about developing your social/relationship skills, worry about getting your diet in order and eating clean so you can lose some of that unwanted bf. But don’t waste your time worrying about how come your friends can eat like crap and still have 6-packs, or moobs, or any other useless details that aren’t going to do you any good in the long run.

i was implying there are no conditions

be happy with yourself first.

its one thing to want to change the way you look, its another to be happy with it. we all always will want something more from life but we must be happy with the present too(at least most of the times). having “moobs” or whatever at 14 is not a reason to be unhappy about it.

also man up and say screw you to peer pressure

Look man, your in high school and kids are dicks. I’m here to tell you in wont change.
Girls are always gonna like the abercrombie look.

Here is a true story, last night I showed my girlfriend the world record clean and jerk video from '88. I said watch this beast set a record, she goes “That fat-ass”

And then I’m like wtf that guy is massively strong and I’ll you can see is a “gut” I proceeded to ask her what is “hott” in a guy and she’s promptly responded “you know the abercrombie models” I almosdt exploded she’s like “what they work out their backs and shoulders n stuff too”

We ended up in a fight over this.

Point being…girls are into what their into. You have to learn now that living a “bodybuilding” lifestyle is always conducive to chick hunting. If you care about your training, focus on it, not the hoes. If you wanna be a big bad earth shattering muscular mother fucker, then your gonna have to focus on getting there and not on what every chick is thinking about you.

Forget non-“T-women”…they just won’t understand you or your passion for this lifestyle. It’s frustrating, but it’s reality bro.

Kid, all you need to do is eat PLENTY, lift HEAVY, and lift CONSISTENTLY. That’s it. You don’t even have to ask questions. Reps, sets? Hell, do 5x5. Lift heavy and often, and eat meat like a bear.

Simple.

I was watching The Green Mile with my girlfriend the other night. She asked me if I wanted to get as big as Michael Clarke Duncan was. I said that would be pretty cool, and do you know what she said?

Yeah, it would be.

To the 14 year old: Everyone looks for something different in the opposite sex. You hang out with little girls, and you’re going to find that they are looking for little boys. When you start going places where you can hang out with women, then I am confident you will find that they will be looking for MEN.

Take what people say in high school with a shaker of salt - I know that, at the time, it seems like what happens there matters on some grand scale in regards to your life, but once you graduate and move on from that building you will find that you also move on from the ideas you had there that once seemed so important.

Quit wasting time on things that will pass in a few short years. Focus, instead, on things of personal value to you (lifting weights), as you will find it much, much more rewarding in the long run.

Besides, everyone knows that, in high school, it’s the big football players who get the chicks - not the chess club or the XC team.

LOL my school doesnt have a football team
