Returning to squatting after around 4 months off due to a knee injury. I want to make sure my form is good so I set off back on the right foot. I think my form was the reason I injured myself last time - I would lean forward when squatting so the weight wasn’t above the heels, and my knees would also go way past my feet.
Mainly want to focus on how my depth is whether I’m leaning too far forwards or not. Any pointers/criticism/advice would be really helpful, thanks.
I’m not sure if I embedded the video properly so here’s the link if it doesn’t work - - YouTube
depth looks pretty good to me but it seems as if your butt is coming up before your shoulders, which makes you bend forward a little more on the way up.
When I had the same problem, it helped me to concentrate more on squeezing my midsection when I hit the bottom. That seemed to keep my shoulders and butt moving at the same time.
I think I see what you’re trying to do here. Kinda overcompensating for bad knees w/turning a kind of PL squat into sort of a Romanian Deadlift. I could be way off here, please accept my apologies if that’s the case, but I’ve kinda been there.
You have to try to “lead” with your shoulders much more. And you’re dropping down very quickly here, even with all the set-up.
Overall it looks good, but your lower back doesn’t seem tight enough for me here.

Thanks for the advice, I’ll definitely try to tighten up at the bottom. What do you mean when you say it looks like a RDL? I’m having trouble seeing the resemblance but that’s probably just me. Thanks for the advice!

That’s definitely true, I’ll try to work on that. Thanks for the advice!
Your squat doesn’t look bad except you aren’t very aggressive and seem extreme tentative. Believe in what you are doing at all times. And believe 100%.
Thanks for the advice, Jim. I think the reason I’m tentative is because I don’t want to injure my knee again. I think once my confidence in my knee strength is back I’ll be more aggressive.
