Law applications sent out at NYU, Michigan, WashU, Duke, Cornell, Northwestern, Penn, Vanderbilt, and UVA today.

UChicago is having an issue with their application portal, but that will be submitted as soon as it’s resolved.

Georgetown, Stanford, Columbia, and Harvard open at different points over the next two weeks. One of my professors set up a phone call between me and a UA alumnus at Georgetown, so that I can enhance my “why do I want to go here” supplemental essay and namedrop her. Which is apparently a valid strategy.

In terms of lifting, W1 was mostly intended for my coach to figure out where my starting point was in terms of strength/technique/injury, and now the actual fun starts (albeit quite light at first). One week of lifting has been accompanied by more marked improvement in my pain than four-ish weeks of rest, so take from that what you will.

They are the ones that care about money. It is how they keep score.

When you don’t care - because you realize enough is enough and all you need is within - you get to watch the simulation, the game, the matrix and have compassion for those that do care.

I so wanted my son to go to Princeton, and he wanted to go there (but it was not his first choice) because I thought it would reflect well on me and that others would think more of him. But he ended up at UCONN and it was his first choice and he is happy there.

Trust the process and go to the school that fits you - whatever that is. Fuck it, go to Howard if that works.

My brother (that passed, not the asshole) went to Stanford, and did well. But he was a white kid from a middle class family in a school with scions of American politics and industry driving luxury cars while he was driving a 1969 Toyota Corona with a black priest statue on the dash that he called his sound system.

The daughter of the Secretary of State was in awe of him - because he got in on his merit.

First good news of the law school application cycle. I got an interview with UVA. They accept ~90% of the candidates they interview in a typical year, so to get the offer within the first 5 days of the cycle is about as good of a start as I could’ve hoped for. Will spend the weekend reviewing the questions they’ve asked applicants in past years and drilling.

Accepted at UVA law, ranked fourth in the country!

Eight business days after submitting my application, and less than 24 hours after my interview. They are evidently really enthusiastic about having me, which is a great feeling lol. Scholarship information comes out much later, but it’s very relieving either way to have such a good option on the table this early. Plus it confirms that nothing is catastrophically wrong with any part of my application in general.

If you go UVA, you’ll have to make a trip up to DC sometime! We can hit up a lift and then go destroy a steakhouse

@throwawayfitness @tlgains Thanks!

@atlas13 I’m actually gonna be right outside of DC for the whole summer, so we should definitely plan something out when we get a bit closer to then.

Training light is ridiculously frustrating, but my presses and lat pulldowns are noticeably less painful than a couple weeks ago, and I’m not looking smaller in the mirror, so it’s doing what it’s supposed to.

WashU (Saint Louis) interview is tomorrow afternoon. Got an invitation today to a Georgetown interview next Thursday, as well. Both good signs.

It’s a plan man, I’d love to do meet up sometime!

UVA is a great law program, Georgetown is also pretty fantastic. Law programs a little lower ranked than UVA (depending on your views with the whole T7 thing some guys focus on), but the school name Carries some more weight to those who don’t follow law as closely, which could be helpful if going for any sort of post school job that’s not actually law. Wash U… man, the schools great, but have you been to st.louis? I lived there for 4 years, and idk if you could pay me to go back lol. If you do end up going that route, let me know and I can definitely tell you some great spots in that city, because it does have some amazing sights…. But also not a city you want to wonder off the beaten path lol

Sounds great!

I’ve heard some pretty awful stuff about St. Louis lol. My dad took a business trip there once, and I had a few friends drive up to it to watch the eclipse last year, and nobody had many positive things to say. The main reason I’m applying there is basically to have a safety school—their scholarship-giving process is notoriously numbers-driven, so just my LSAT and GPA alone give me like a 95% chance at getting a full ride and a housing stipend. I don’t want to actually go there, but

A). I wanted to have at least one near-guarenteed full ride so that debt doesn’t become a huge issue if I don’t get any good scholarship offers from other schools
B). I can use their scholarship offer to negotiate with the places I’m more intent on going to (although some schools just outright refuse to consider WashU scholarships during negotiations because of how much money they throw at seemingly everyone)

Like the lat pulldowns last time, these rows were noticeably less painful than a week or two ago. Good news.

Also good news: last year, 100% of the students who were offered a Georgetown interview on the first day they started notifying people (which includes me this year) ended up getting offers. So I have another layup. The applications for two of my big reaches (Harvard and Stanford) open Sunday, so I’ll have those ready to go at 12:01am lol.
