5/3/1 Building the Monolith: W2D1

Squat: 5x45/135/155/195/225, 5x5 @ 250
Press: 5x95/105/120, 12x95

Chins:16x6, 1x4
Dips: 10x12
Pull-Aparts: 5x20

Not too much to say about this one. The press felt like the right weight for a 5’s week, so it looks like lowering the TM was the right call.

Pre-Workout meal today was a PB&J and a few of the eggs. Frankly, I need to be eating more.

Side Note: I measured my neck on a whim yesterday, and I’ve managed to break 18” cold

Dinner tonight: MANY tacos. These have ground pork, cheese, pico, cole slaw vegetables, and some sort of green sauce

Tacos are ALWAYS the right choice. They’re rich in amiño acids.

Nachos are an even better choice, of course.

And burritos.

Pretty much all Mexican cuisine. But San Diego Mexican even moreso than TexMex.

Truer words have never been spoken.

If I lived within walking distance of a Taco Bell, then Alabama would be getting a 285-pounder in a few weeks, lol

That is pretty much exactly what happened when I moved into San Diego, with not 1, not 2, but 3 amazing burrito spots within walking distance lol

Run (Road) - 2 Miles in 15:56

Mile 1: 7:59
Mile 2: 7:57

Immediately followed by more tacos

Have been picking up more comments lately from friends, family, and coworkers on the growth from the past few months. Most notable to me is my whole shoulder girdle blowing up, along with my quads. Most notable to seemingly everyone else are my glutes, lol

Join the club, doesn’t matter how big my other muscles get, only comments I ever get are on my big ar$e… LOL

Oh geez, I TOTALLY responded to this in my head and never actually replied, haha.

For Western Philosophy, The Greeks would be the place to start. Can’t go wrong with Plato’s “The Republic”. Lotta foundational stuff there. I’m not too well versed in the Eastern Side, but the classics there would be Tao Te Ching, and then you can go Art of War and Book of the 5 Rings to hit the popular stuff.

Definitely worth chasing after in Undergrad. Having someone there to help navigate the thoughts is key. Many philosophers were great thinkers and poor writers.

I’ll throw in a plug for Arthur Schopenhauer for one of the few philosophers that seems to just flat out say what he means. And I appreciate his message.

Deadlift: 5x135/185/225/275, 3x5 @ 315
Bench: 5x45/95/115/135, 5x5 @ 155
DB Row: 5x15 @ 75
DB Curls: 2x20 @ 30, 20x30/20/10 (Drop Set)

Really appreciating the 3/5/1 order that this program uses. It’s the first time I’ve done a block like that, and I feel like I won’t be bringing as much fatigue into the third week as I otherwise would be.

That’s exactly what I was looking for, thanks for the answer.

Run (Road) - 2 Miles in 14:51 (PR)

Mile 1: 7:35
Mile 2: 7:17

Now we’re starting to get somewhere with these. First time in a while that hasn’t been embarrassingly bad.

Just to clarify - none of these runs are lifetime PR’s. Those would be a 5:52 mile and 21:20 5k, tipping the scales at a towering, intimidating 115. If I can ever get back to those times, at adult-male-human weight, then I’ll be a force to be reakoned with.

Congrats on the time PRs!

Dude, have you seen the “running” in my log?

@SvenG

You at least have the excuse of being big and strong, lol

Bike ~55 Miles; Hike

My tenure as an unwitting endurance athlete continues. I may actually become the first person in history to lose weight on the BTM diet at this rate, lol.
