I love how easy it is to photoshop the word intensity on a plain black t-shrit and have people freak out about it. Have you guys not figured it out yet?

I was. For the sake of proving a point. I totally expected several members to descend on me like a pack of wild dogs to defend Bonez after that post. Looks like Facebook groups aren’t so harmless after all then.
I’m now suddenly being labelled an idiot and a troll for making a “ridiculous” post, except for the small problem that the reactions were consistent with my post. Genius.
Says more about them than it does about me. Also says a lot about the people that didn’t attack me.
I deliberately set out to make myself public enemy number 1 within the space of a few comments to see how seriously people take this. Seems like the interwebz is serious business…but social netwerking is seriouser.
I’m not sure what it is you think you are ‘proving’… if you wanted to illustrate that people take offense when you shit on something they are involved in, then excellent catch, Sherlock. If you wanted to showcase friends sticking up for one another when some doucher they don’t know calls them out, then anyone here could have just saved you the trouble by saying it’s a “no shit” revelation of yours. If you feel that any adult actually cares about what people whom they’ve never met do with their wardrobes then maybe a hiatus from this site is in order for you.
If you were suggesting that people on this site are being brainwashed or influenced by any one of them because - what? - they wear the same T-shirt and chat online about lifting weights then you are most likely outta your fucking mind.
I am not a member of the Facebook group and didn’t know several regular members of this forum were part of it until they started flaunting their new threads in their avatars. As far as I am aware, I have hardly ever commented on anything any one of them has ever written on this site and, even aside from this BOI Facebook thing, I don’t participate in quite a few of the ‘inside’ jokes or past times many on this site do to taste the e-camaraderie.
If you really want to make this thread ‘interesting’ then sack up and state exactly what your problem is (who knows, I might even agree with YOU) and name some fucking names. Right now it just seems like you are jelly that you don’t get to be a part of these inside jokes and matching wardrobes so you are insisting to anyone who will listen that the grapes are sour.
Bullshit.
My point was made pretty obvious after a procession of ass-kissers decided to take sides, with no understanding of what was being said. You implicated yourselves.
You, for example, felt strongly enough to make two posts replete with pics for the hard of learning, called me a troll and later a whiner, and now admit that you didn’t even know what I was getting at?
If you want the point, then here it is: Bonez decided to superimpose his-swolier-than-thou opinion on me. I responded and asked him a very simple question. He’s a big boy and could have dealt with it himself, but several members including yourself, took his side with no real understanding of what I was saying. I wasn’t attacking the BOI FB group out of jealousy as you say; I was just trying to find out who started the group and who suggested the t-shirts… Somebody must have.
Bonez didn’t, because he’d have said so instead of trucking around with every other hater acting like I’m making this out to be some well-oiled military operation.
Let me remind you that he addressed me. For future reference, If you don’t understand something, don’t respond to it. Not one of you gave a sensible response. Not one.
As for me being out of my mind? Well, in spite of my apparent insanity you and several others have acted like a bunch of predictable, cliquey, mean girls-lite pussies with no real opinion.
Trolls are the least of your problems. Falling over each other to gain favor is.

Not at all. I got your point. But then, criticizing data collection and telling me I’m laughably off the mark for criticizing social networking when most of that data comes from social networking is kind of like you pushing me off target for the sake of pretending you know what the hell you’re talking about.

And, The Wave looks like a movie I would enjoy watching; however, I lack the ability to focus entirely on a movie when watching it on my computer. Because of this, a subtitled movie would be difficult for me to follow as I like to browse the web while listening to shit in the background. Not sure what’s so difficult to grasp about that… I thought I stated my predicament fairly clearly.
Might I suggest that you watch the film on its own merits, and not try to multi-task, or form opinions beforehand?
I can’t see how anybody can enjoy a movie while needing distractions to get through it.

The internet isn’t the problem. It’s the goons who take time out of their day to log on to a website, laugh at a correctly applied word, and explain that the internet isn’t that important. So…why do you care?

Guy, I’m not sure what gives you the impression that I was foaming at the mouth over your comments and I assure you it takes little enough time for me to post for you to be careful with jumping to conclusions about how seriously I take any of this.

If you want a history lesson, search for the original BOI thread and do some reading. Or, drop the pretense of cleverness and ask like a normal human being. It isn’t a huge mystery; even I can fill you in on most of the broad strokes and I’ve posted maybe once in the entire BOI saga.
If that’s all you wanted to know, it could’ve been accomplished easily enough without you awkwardly stumbling all over this thread trying just to FIND a fucking bush to beat around.
Just don’t be expecting anything more dramatic than what he wrote: they are a couple of friends who made a FB group and happen to have the same shirts.
roybot wrote:

Well, when you compare it to fascism, link to a video seemingly about students getting manipulated and brainwashed into a gang and speak of them being “forced” into wearing a “uniform”, small wonder that’s what people are going refer to your opinion as. As tongue-in-cheek as you may have been with the comparisons, I can assure you the rest of us (myself, at least) were right there with you.

Again, I am not in the FB group, do not own a T-shirt, and haven’t in recent memory even quoted a single post any one of them has ever written. So, no, I am not a cliquey cheerleader with no capacity for independent thought - I came to my own conclusions, conclusions that differ from your POV, and you are dismissing it as an impossibility that anyone can look at whatever argument you THINK it is you are presenting and see it a different way.
You ignore my statement about friends sticking up for one another and instead trivialize their opinions as being those of “a procession of ass-kissers”. Never mind that, as it appears, many of these ass-kissers actually speak regularly off of this forum and have even met up with each other IRL to film training videos!
Whether or not you feel your posts were attacking them, you really can’t be blind to the dripping condescension and sarcasm in your posts. No fucking shit they would want to respond.
I guess when you are the only one agreeing with yourself it is easy enough to believe that everyone is marching (goose stepping?) out of time except for you.

No, you are not laughably off the mark for criticizing social networking sites. You are laughably off the mark for boiling down the content of my posts in that thread to the conclusion that I was warning against those sites as a whole. I never warned against social networking sites in and of themselves (I stated several times I’m not a paranoiac and don’t advocate tinfoil hats); I warned against the seemingly blind eye many people turn towards several of their online activities… in particular, the sort of online activities that could very well have real consequences for their “real” lives. I don’t feel as though there is anything insidious about having a profile on any of those websites - in fact, nowadays it’s strange NOT to have one - so long as one is mindful of what they project to the world.
My only gripe with the “data collection” is the general incredulity of seeing the ways some people choose to present themselves on a medium that that is accessible to virtually anyone with enough curiosity to click their mouse. If people want to start a club to keep in touch with their buddies and talk shop about their shared hobby, more power to them. If people outside that group take it for anything more than it is, that’s their problem.
You’ll have to accept my apologies for being so dense that I didn’t immediately catch the scent of that brain fart you decided to spurt all over this thread, but it is apparent to me from the argument you’ve presented that you and I are aiming at completely different targets. I didn’t have to “push” you anywhere for you to argue against shit I don’t care about, at all.

Not form an opinion beforehand? What, am I supposed to just fly blind into every fucking movie shoved in my face? How concrete of an opinion do you think I have? The preview made it look like a decent flick - that’s what I said and that’s what I meant. That’s about as “formed” as my opinion is - it looks like something I would want to give a shot. I literally know shit else about it other than those three minutes.
I dislike sitting on my ass for an hour or two doing nothing but watching a movie. I can do it with books - and routinely go several times longer than that - but I get antsy when it comes to movies. Maybe it has to do with sitting in a chair that prevents me from relaxing enough to immerse myself properly.

Oh, and while we’re on the topic…what’s up with many Americans and their obsession with calling everyone out as “ass lickers” or whatever? Don’t know whether this is actually just a cultural thing or what, but it seems to happen more on American forums IMO.
To someone where I come from, a person is simply showing respect/admiration which is pretty normal and not seen as irritating.
I have a theory, in general, Americans (compared to British/European etc) are so much more enthusiastic about everything, everything is over exaggerated especially with younger ones and for those more “level headed Americans”, those ones get real old fast and tiresome to listen to. Therefore, they call them out all the time to bring attention to the annoying fact that they get over-excited about everything (which includes “sucking up to people”)?
How’s that for stereotyping? Maybe everyone can gang up on me now? lol
