Creatine Side Effect???

Has anyone else noticed this. It seems like when I try to take creatine that my lower legs get tingly if I sit for longer periods of time. If I stop taking it, a couple days later it goes away. I thought maybe it was a weird coincidense so I tried it again.

After taking 5 grams a couple of days it came back. I stopped taking it and a couple days later the tingling went away again. It seems to be related. It kinda worries me since it feels like an almost numb tingly feeling. Just wondering if anyone else experienced this. Looks like creatine isnt for me.

What kind are you taking?? waht else is in it?? are you staying hydrated drinking your fluids?

Phill

I don’t have any side effects

Yeah I am drinking plenty of fluid. I probably drink about 3 64oz cups of water a day plus some green tea. I am just using plain micronized creatine monohydrate…thats the only ingredient.

Make sure you’re drinking between a gallon and a gallon and a half of water a day while on creatine.

Anytime you get strange side effects such as that, I would suggest stopping usage.
What brand are you using?

Its Dymatize. I know overpriced, but I just bought a small container and was going to try it…guess I wont continue.

I’m experiencing a kind of itching feeling all over. A bit like when you walk through a cobweb or have that feeling that you’ve got a spider or something crawling on your skin.

Hard to describe, but it lasts all day and keeps me awake at night. Drives me crazy.

The Doc says I could be allergic to something (I haven’t eaten anything different) but it seems to have started when I began taking my creatine.

I have no idea what it is so it’ll be interesting to see if anyone else has similar probs. In the meantime, I’ll stop the Creatine and see what happens…

Is there alot of sugar in it? It’s probably a sugar crash.

No, there is no sugar in it. The only ingredient is micronized creatine monohydrate.

Sounds like paresthesia from beta alanine.

Could be due to slight compression of nerves due to the cell swelling.

[Theorizing is fun]

I have no idea what that is…ha ha. Is that something that will continue or something that will go away…assuming thats what it actually is. For now I think I am going to discontinue taking it. I have also noticed some pain in my lower back.

It could just be sciatic nerve problems and it just happens to act up while I take the creatine. I wouldnt think that would be related…but maybe its a coincidence. I am just going to have to keep researching.

I’ve been taking Prolabs creatine monohydrate for several months now, same 5g deal. And for the first month or two, i got killer cramps in my calfs during the night. A few people told me to increase my potassium inntake, the cramps have stoped ever since, and im still takin the creatine. Try it out.
Good sources of potassium
Banana
Papaya
Artichoke
Brocolli
Tomato
Brazil Nuts
natural peanut butter
potatoes

I think the real question is, did you buy “juiced creatine” from GhostTribe?

I can’t take creatine either. It always gave me headaches. I suspect it’s worthless anyway. Flame on creatine lovers.

What other supps are you taking? I have the same issue of being itchy. It doesn’t keep my up at night, but I itch.

Wow! I guess all that pesky research showing the benefits of creatine is wrong, huh?

No Flames necessary, but be aware that your experiences are not representative of the general population -you are a non-responder.

Ha ha, I also get a little bit itchy while taking the creatine, but only when I sweat. Oh, and nope, pretty sure this isnt “juiced creatine.” I did notice benefits such as more energy while working out, but I am not sure that outways the other sideeffects.

So appearantly I am not a “nonresponder” since I get more energy, I just also get other negative side effects. I was looking forward to using this stuff too…dang it. Oh yeah, someone asked what other supps I am taking. Daily multi vitamin, whey, and ZMA.

Creatine gave me 5 pounds of lean mass. I hate it! Make it go away!

Tsk. To the OP, don’t load, and if you aren’t, take it at half the dosage and see if you still get the side effect. Drink 1 or more gallons of water per day.

That’s about all I know as I’m a responder, unfortunately.
