Creatine and Cutting

Hey guys,back again to T-Nation.

After losing cca. 60lbs and gaining 5 later,I started cutting again.
I want to get to 6-pack by 18th May (I want to prove my classmates that even the fat kid can get “ripped”),and I already started low-carb with alot of cardio.

Now,if I started taking creatine in April, would I still get the visible 6-pack?

I’m afraid that I’ll blow it with creatine because of water retention or that my fat loss will slow down…but,on the other side,it would make my muscle look fuller and my cardio sessions last longer.

Any thoughts on the subject?

Search function.

But no, it should not a big enough difference that you wouldn’t be able to see your abs.

The short answer is No.

The long answer No will take a few hours of reading to understand why water retention doesn’t apply to your question and why your claim that fat loss will slow down has no basis.

Thanks for answering that.

I was compiling a response in my head and it would have taken way too much time and effort to say the same thing you just did.

OP, there have been at least several articles on Creatine, and many, many more forum posts, so try a search on the topic for more info.

It’s only a concern the week before a contest, and even then there are good reasons to either use, or discontinue use. It all comes down to your conditioning before the actual show.

Just to put it out there - an old article by Thibs mentioned some research that creatine may trigger a small increase in metabolic rate - around 5%.
