But he had such a klassie wedding!
Sad part is, it looks like he really loved her (and vice versa).
Guys like Brian Shaw ARE dead. Its just Brian himself who isn’t.
I mean the dudes at the top level… yes, there are many 100s, probably 1000s that are dead by now… but what is it specifically about these particular specimens that allow them to withstand such MASSIVE amounts of abuse for so long?
He has to live longer to get his money worth of his $120,000 truck, and $500,000 home gym.
Golias is a big dude, no doubt. Big frame, heavily muscled yep… BUT, I have absolutely no doubt that he’s photoshopping every single image he posts online. EVen that one shot of him indoors, just look at the angle of the doorway and realize that he’s tilting the camera angle so his head looks smaller -lol. If I were a betting man I’d wager he’s got some serious psychological issues (sure, we all do, but I mean SERIOUS issues)
YOu guys remember “Jeep” swenson? The guy was 400 lbs!
S
I do too.
Cro Cop was such a monster in his prime.
Not as famous of a fight, but Fujita beating Sapp was much more brutal. Fujita took him down in seconds and began soccer kicking him relentlessly. More than the Mirko fight, it was the Fujita one apparently that turned Sapp into someone who now takes a dive 20 seconds into every fight.

They don’t withstand it. They die.
Likely just a unique physiology that will also give out at some point.
He likely did. I remember some of his videos in which he was likely intoxicated.
I understand this… and I’ll LITERALLY eat one of my shoes if Brian Shaw makes it past age 60
But my question still pertains. Why do some do this, die at like 23 while Brian Shaw and the limes can make it to 40, 50 or even 60?
There must be a genetic element. I’d understand with the golden era guys living longer… say they stayed on year round, but kept dosages below 4-500mg weekly… even then, sometimes I doubt they actually used THAT much less… sure, I’m sure they used less than pros/ even certain gym rats today… but I’ve heard rumours of Mime Mentzer (died 49) using 2g deca + weekly + amphetamine/eventually methamphetamine addict etc… other rumours of guys getting together (golden era bodybuilders) having bowls full of dbol that they’d grab by the handful… not sure if I believe that one though
Some appear to be resistant to systemic cellular damage, others die off quickly (cigarette smoking amongst cohorts come to mind when I think about this… some turn out fine, others die from lung cancer, heart disease at 30, 40 etc… granted there’s always a point at which a certain amount will kill you… whenever… but some people appear are far more resilient than others, I wonder which specific genes however determine these outcomes)
Also pertains to junk food/sedentary lifestyle… some kneel over at 45 due to massive myocardial infarction stemming from plaque buildup… others can live like that til 90…
Personally, I think its the combination of amphetamines with steroids. I knew a guy who was a small time BBer who also used cocaine and he had a heart attack and died about 25 or so.
True, recently (as in within past 6 hours) posted a study in which it was hypothesised a large portion of AAS induced cardiac damage is induced via beta adrenergic receptor upregulation (I’ve gone over this many times. Mechanism for damage induced by sympathetic nervous system upregulation, cardiac autonomic dysfunction etc)
Cocaine, aside from vasoconstrictive, electrolyte imbalance, impaired calcium handling, ischemia inducing effects also has pronounced effects regarding beta adrenergic receptor upregulation (and AAS also possess a net vasoconstrictive effect)… the two are very synergistic… together add up to be like… the perfect heart attack combo
Theres a difference between say… therapeutic dose of amphetamine to treat legitimate medical ailments (say dexamfetamine, methylphenidate etc) and methamphetamine/cocaine. All increase the risk of cardiac events on AAS if you ask me (even amphetamines prescribed therapeutically), but one cannot compare the risk comparative of say 7.5mg dexamfetamine daily for ADHD and cocaine/ice/large insulated dosages of amphetamine sulphate.
But yes, amphetamines and anabolic steroids (illicit use of stimulants in general… and booze despite being a depressant is one of the most harmful recreational drugs one can take in terms of harm induced chronically) are a recipe fro disaster when combined
I dunno. I was watching Lee Priests YouTube channel a while back and he was flabbergasted by the amounts people are using now, and what he described of his own when he was competing was mild by comparison.
I also recall a conversation with Dave Tate and Mark Bell wherein they were discussing being surprised by some lifters of their era of competition being natural at a given level of performance.
This leads me to believe that there is currently a massive over reliance on drugs and a deficit of actual talent or emphasis on actual training.
Lee was not golden era. Also, I put a high probability (almost certain) that Lee used much more than he said. I watched a video in which he claimed his largest cycle was something like 400 test 600 deca. LOL. It is hard to be 225 ripped at 5’3". I know a 5’2" guy that is 165 lbs lean, and he looks jacked. I can’t even imagine what he would look like at 225. Also, he used more than what Lee claimed to have used to get there.
I also think that golden era guys were using more than 4-500 mg a week. Not like what is being used now, but it was on average I think it was higher than that.
There is a genetic element i believe. My buddy can run 700mg Tren ace a week and his BP doesnt move. I run 300mg Tren E and get a 15 point jump.
But yea, the “multiple grams” range is crazy to me
Looked it when he played the first Bane
Sure, but he was also bigger than your friend before he ever touched anything (supposedly) unless Priest started using in his mid teens.
Really though, it’s hard to ever know the truth or analogize guy using xyz to guy using pqr unless you’re there when they’re filling the syringe. We’re pretty much all in the dark in that regard.
I just put the probability of his claim at close to 0. I can’t prove it either way.
If Lee actually did only take that dose I think it would be kinda stupid of him. His competitors were taking in the ball park of 5-10X that amount (also with elite genetics). Why would he not up the dose to double or triple and easily win? I mean if you can get 2nd or 3rd with that dose, why not just go up a bit for an easy win?
Hell if I know. I don’t even know what my own dose response curve is, having never used anything more than the old Mag-10.
