Hello all,
I cracked my tail bone on Tuesday night. I was walking down a set of steps in wet shoes and my feet slipped out from under me and landed straight on the edge of one of the steps, directly on my upper tail bone. I have extensive bruising on my left cheek and am experiencing some lower back pain, so I went and saw an orthopedic today to see if it was just a bad bruise or if it was something more serious. Turns out I have a crack in my upper tail bone, and the lowest vertebra on my spine is separated instead of being fused (Dr wasn’t sure if this was related to the accident or if that was just how my spine developed).
I told him that I exercise regularly but am not an athlete. He told me there was nothing that he could do about it, did not prescribe me anything for the pain, and did not make any mention of taking time off from lifting.
He said it should take between 4-6 weeks to heal, and that it would be very painful during that time. Should I take this to mean that I should not do any physical activity during this time, or would it be ok to lift as long as the lifts I am doing do not cause me any pain?
Anyone that has had a similar injury, or anyone that works in the medical field, I am looking for some insight since the doctor was not very helpful in that aspect.
Thanks ahead of time for your input.
