Yeah sweet potatoes or ordinary ones, carrots and peas are good too. The Jelly is just a side thing to flavour / disguise the taste of the wild meat.
Speaking of potatoes here in DK we like “brown” potatoes.
It’s melted sugar mixed with butter on a frying pan, then small potatoes and let them get caramelised, that’s awesome.
If you like I’ll write the recipe out, it’s a bit tricky but well worth it.
Oh I love carmalized onions I make in my lodge skillet. I’ll have to check out. I’ll surf around for recipes, but if I hit a road block, I’ll ask. I know how long it takes to write down recipes
I think you could use the same procedure for potatoes.
Use small ones and not from a jar or glass. They gets so much better when they are fresh from the ground.
Try to stir sugar in little water before the melting on the pan.
It’s a bit easier, it burns easily when melting directly.
When the potatoes comes on the caramel it tends to stick a bit, but just be patient and wait, let it stay for some time on low heat so the caramel sticks to the potatoes.
Really lots of calories
