separation between upper lower pec is sick bro, dare i say Franco Columboesque!
Love how I can see your back thickness destroys that guy next to you.
Wow. Fantastic. Really happy for you, man, you deserved it.
Congrats, Stu! Awesome showing, especially for your first show.
Are you going up against me in a few weeks ;)? I better double up on that cardio…
My Contest Experience Pt II:
After a bit of a wait, I was again requested on stage as part of the Men?s Middleweight Open class. If I thought I didn?t do well in the novice or 35+ classes, then I really wouldn?t do well in this one. Even the ?weaker? competitors looked damn impressive, and I found myself thinking that as a new competitor, and someone who was about to turn 36 a couple of days after the show, maybe I had indeed erred in entering the Open Class.
As we lined up numerically backstage, I was right next to number 47, who was absolutely huge looking. His muscles were full and round, with enough cuts to make me realize what sort of person would probably win a bodybuilding show. The class was actually pretty big, easily 12-15 competitors. Once we were arranged in an arc on stage, the judges announced that they would split us into two groups.
As they called out the numbers of the ?bigger? competitors, I found myself again next to #47, along with maybe 4 others as everyone else was asked to wait offstage. For the third time that morning, I was put through my quarter turns, and mandatories. A few shuffles, and the person to one side of me changed. A few shuffles, and again, a new competitor on one side (#47, however, stayed right next to me the whole time). Eventually we were thanked, and we walked off stage. I was absolutely wrecked. It was almost 3pm, and I hadn?t had any water since 4pm the previous day. I didn?t even feel like speaking.
After meeting Corey backstage, I tossed on my T-Shirt (an old Biotest one! ?lol), and some gym pants, and slowly staggered to the front of the auditorium. I was actually surprised to see my folks and Grandmother there. I had thought that they were only attending the night show, because, to be honest, they don?t really think much about my bodybuilding hobby.
Along with my Catherine, and my best friend Steve (and his girlfriend), we drove off in search of somewhere for every to eat (not me though, I had some plain chicken and rice cakes with nuttella). Corey and Mike, however, went off to find a gym, lest they miss a workout. When we finally walked into a little pizza shop, the young kid who worked there looked at me all disheveled, with 6 coats of fake tanner on, and inquired ?yer coming from dat bodybuilding show huh?? .
I didn?t really feel like playing 20 questions, so I just nodded my head, and sat down before I thought I would actually collapse from just feeling so run down. Everyone ordered something, and after about 5 minutes, I went outside and tried to take a nap in the backseat of my parents? car. It didn?t work very well, being all cramped up in a small Buick, but it was nice just to be off my feet for a little bit.
Eventually, we headed back, in time for me to eat a couple more rice cakes (no chicken this time), and find Corey who reapplied my posing oil before I started pumping up. All competitors were allowed to go through their individual posing routine. I had actually spent a bit of time on mine, as I didn?t want to just stomp around hitting most muscular shots, but I also didn?t want to actually ?dance? either. After everyone had gone, all competitors were required to go out as they introduced each class. They would then bring back out the top 5, and award the final placings. The head judge, also a USBF Pro, was the first guest poser they had scheduled for the evening show, and at the advice of the expeditor, ?Hesh? (a pretty big Super Heavyweight himself), I popped into the back of the auditorium to see his routine. It was actually very impressive, sort of riding the line between an actual entertaining acting/dancing thing and then ?bam? just hitting a pose that made you realize just how thick and dense this guy was (he didn?t look so impressive backstage, but I guess true BBing is knowing how to show what you?ve got).
I knew I had a good amount of time, so I ran through my routine once or twice, and then just kept listening to the music on my IPOD while I lay on the floor for a bit. I had found myself getting a little dizzy at times, and despite the bit of sugar I was ingesting every 2 hours, I?m sure I was very dehydrated. I will note though, that my skin was tissue paper thin. ?Hesh? had actually come over to me and paid me a very nice compliment. While he had actually prepped a lot of competitors himself over the years, he said that while I didn?t look all that impressive to him upon quick inspection that morning, seeing me onstage, he realized that I was actually much better conditioned than any of the other competitors. It really made me feel good about my little bout of vertigo, and I focused on how much work had gone into preparing for this show, and all the friends and family members who were in the audience waiting for me. If I wasn?t going to place, I at least would put on a respectable display of my posing prowess to KISS?s ?God of Thunder?.
(more to come as I have time -lol)

Ya you ruined for him what was planned to be a pimptastic evening.
Not only does Stu deserve the win for the obviously incredible dedication he has shown, but he’s just a damn good guy and it’s good to see people like him succeed.
Congrats man.
You look fucking awesome!

My thoughts exactly. A rare sight to see on anyone - pro or otherwise.

Well, last night was my birthday, so even though I’ve been trying not to binge (except for Sunday -lol), I hit up a Cheeburger-Cheeburger with a few close friends and promptly put away a 20 oz burger, large PB/Choc shake, onion rings, and an ice cream sundae my buddy’s arranged to have brought out with a candle on it ![]()
I do intend to keep within 15-20 lbs of my contest weight, and have been hitting the gym damn hard, with special attention to my chest and quad sweep. While I feel my chest was damn thick and cut in my actual poses, when standing ‘relaxed’, I think it’s a big reason why the 2 competitors who finished ahead of me in the Open did so.
As promised, as the pics come in, I’ll toss 'em up. Here’s a few I received this morning that I particularly like ![]()
(I’ll also have more video by the end of the week!)
