Different pull-up bars have different weights. If you didn’t count them, how could you compare lifts when done in different gyms? It’s ll a matter of logic and reason…
This is awesome, still don’t see how this thread made it but my Is this a realistic goal with a stick figure picture was considered offensive. anyways this thread is awesome.

Dude…that’s why you just take the average of all the pull-up bars you’ve ever used and apply it to every workout you’ve ever done. Applying different numbers for heavier bars is just cheating. Are you a dishonest man, Michael from Austria? Michael from Massachusetts wants to know.

Count it. I count the weight of the bench when bench pressing.
Just the bench? When you bench press, doesn’t the bar stay still and the earth move down?

Actually, Michael from Massachusetts, I’m not dishonest, but rather a hard-counter. For genetically gifted people like you, it’s not a big deal to calculate your average. For me, though, count as I might, the bar count just won’t go up. I’m going for a more functional and toned calculation anyway. I don’t want to be one of those roided numberheads who can’t even do a ten-count with decent form.
By the way, I’m considering a cycle of oral number soup, can someone recommend a good website?

So… since you’re pulling down on the bar when doing a chinup, the bar must be pulling you up.
So to improve your chinups get a stronger bar!
Science inaction… errrr… Science in action!

That’s cool. As long as you’re doing your calculations raw, we’re cool. There are so many “geared” number-heads doing huge numbers, but they’ll shrivel up and die when they can’t use a calculator or an abacus. Natural calculations, all the way.
The gear that’s used also has an equal and opposite reaction, and should really be allowed in all RAW competitions, since it cancels itself out.

The problem with the oral numbers soup is they’re all contaminated with high toxicity letters. Try to find injectable soup.

Dumbass. That’s why you weigh the building.
How the hell is he supposed to weigh the building?
Just turn the scale upside down and put it on the roof. This isn’t rocket science guys!

Awesome!! Why didn’t I think of that before???

Do the pull-ups done to get on top of the roof count toward the workout?

Only if you don’t climb back down. That negates the work you did.

what madness is this, HAHAHA.
I was trying to ignore this thread for a few days and I had to see why it was still on page 1 -___-
Why are you even doing pull-ups in the first place? Everyone knows lat pulldowns are more functional. DUH!

I’m as confused as you are…
Being that I’m a physicist I’m getting a little sad. However, I’m going to give these poor souls the benefit of the doubt and just laugh ;D

I certainly hope everyone one who reads this can see that it’s all just in fun. And had I known we had physicists among us I would have been more careful about making dumb Einstein jokes. ; )
This thread is ridiculous.
It’s like the 7-layer dip. What about the plate, the table, the floor, the subfloor, the earth’s crust, the mantle, etc.?
If everything exerts an opposite and equal pull on everything else, does that mean I’m exerting force on Bill Kazmeier?
Richard
Don’t forget the gravitational pull of the moon. If you’re doing pull ups during a high tide, you weigh less than during a low ide, thus it is necessary to add more weight during high tide to make sure you’re evenly counterbalanced.
Chuck Norris would have to weigh the bar and whatever building it’s attached to, since he doesn’t pull himself up, he pulls things down.
