Morning
Middle splits work. Felt tighter than usual on the stretches, but the strength portion (moving legs through range of motion to limits) felt better.
Even
Jiu jitsu. All the upper levels were injured or tired, except for a chick who doesn’t come around too often. Only other guy in class was a mean my size. Practiced leg attacks from honey hole and 50/50, and defenses (brown belt 10th planet instructor, injured). Rolled with been, kept me on bottom but I got him with a gillotine, von flue, and and heel hook. Didn’t have to use much strength.
Right after fought the chick. She was a bit more technical, and going relatively hard. I was pretty relaxed but using my weight. We stalled, 15 minutes straight, tie. She got me in deep deep water after taking my back at one point. I nvr exploded, but I exerted quite a bit of force with my arms. A bigger opp prolly would have finished me. She got me jaw at one point and prolly could’ve cranked, but she wasn’t a dick (did use her pointy ass elbows tho >.<) worked mostly from bottom today, had a lot of success with lockdown and half guard sweeps, and honey hole
Morning
Warmed up
Couple rounds of high knees, side to side runs, backwards run
Couple spribts, prolly 60-80 yes
Tried 8 front flips. First time iv tried on ground without dialing in on a pad first in awhile, big diff. Need to incorporate more. Landed 2, other 6 landed on feet then rolled or fell to ass/side.
6 all out sprints, 60-80 USA

Really sore from yesterday, only 4.5 hours before parkour. This might suck
Evening
Parkour. Flips training, only person there so got an hour of private instruction from coach. Landed 30* front flips onto a padded surface. Practiced gainers.
(Next day)
Morning
DeckSquats/leg slides
4x8/4x3
GluteHamHinge/Toe Touches
3x3/3x5
Front split work. Last ten min got interrupted, but really got into the hamstring.
Evening
Jiu jitsu. I failed to sweep a newb with my lockdown, really salty. Learned how to choke with seatbelt, a double leg lock, how to pull Ashi from guardpass, kneebars from guard, kneebar defense, and someone showed me fisher pole guard.
Last night
Jiu jitSu, worked xguard and single leg x takedowns, butterfly hooks, leg locks from Ashi Garami and lower kaisigatame. Rolled, no upper belts rolled (injured or comp). Two partners were both used to jiu jitsu. One was 240*, other just 10-15 lbs bigger. The big guy let me start in fisherpole guard twice, and submitted twice (armbar, Russian cowboy to palming heel hook). We started normally and he pillowed me for a min till I caght him with butterfly hooks and swept. Got back, choked. He was keeping back to much worried about butterflies, and I shot. Got on top but in the scramble one of his fake teeth got banged too hard. Other guy jumped in immediately without giving me time to rest. He acted new at first, so I pulled guard, and this mfer starts breaking me down and attacking with no hesitation >.> so I stayed calm, went in defense mode, and kept squirming.
He took my back, but I hooked the foot, spun, butterflies and swept. Spent a couple minutes on top, was being a dick. Using elbows and all the other nasty points nature gave me. Could tell I was stronger, and he was giving. Went for a filet choke to get his hands up, and attacked kimura. Leaned over too much and got swept. Dude went crazy trying to finish me, I could tell he was fading. Stayed calm and loose, stayed out of trouble, and did everything I could to make him grind (squeezing guard, posting just enough to make him work, hugging my weight to him). Pulled a really loose rubber hook and kept foot in his hip. He busted out of it, but went up instead of forward, so I just kicked him off. Got up and started coming forward but Guy forfeited after, looked like he was about to have a fucking heart attack.
This morning
Watch crocodile hunter with girl, get too high to remember my body is fire. Read about convolutions in arithmetical functions, specifically how it relates to dirilecht series multiplication. Flips tonight possibly
Just so it sticks in memory…
Half Guard to Butterfly
Start in half guard/lockdown. Loop inside foot around opps ankle (across top, instep looping down). Outside leg untangles, hips outs. Slide outside foot into hip, keep knee outside. Slide inside leg into opposite butterfly position.
Take arm hooks, use butterfly to kick str8 down (pushing opp away), scoot forward keeping hooks, sitting upright, tight to opp, head under chin.
Sweep or kick up and attack x guard.
Parkour today, flips. Three news in class. Did s bunch of stuff with hollow bodies and ground tucks. Did 20+ standing fronts into a pit, about 5 running front, couple websters, 5 standing backs (landed all but 1)
Front flip is dialed in, just need more time. Have the motion of the Webster, but needs to b dialed in. Backflip is there, need to work up the spine to bring it to the ground.
Yesterday
Trained once, jiu jitsu. Went over a lot of escapes to butterfly, butterfly passing, and defensive granbies. Some of the upper belts just got back, so they stuck with each other to roll. Rolled a newb (murdermurder bloody murder) who was like 120 lbs, just tried not to break him. Tapped him over ten times. Admired his aggressiveness. Other guy did two 10 minute rounds with, we usually stall out, or I get him like once (I’m a bit stronger). I annihalated him. Didn’t get tapped, solely used butterfly guard to initiate, and pulled half or full only defensively. He started standing and I was able to x guard sweep or reap the knee into ashi. Hit a heel hook off every single sweep like that but one. Hit a few other foot locks off of backing out of scrambles and going for ashi. Got my first choke with seatbelt. Had a. Lot of success sweeping with butterfly/half (got an electric chair and old school), taking side or half mount (using demian Mia pass), attacking with limitations, immediately grabbing seatbelt, then attacking the choke, or transitioning to back or technical mount, and continuing attack.
Got a triangle and armbar off my back. Couple chokes from their back.
It finally feels like I have a multi level attack and offense
Morning
Middle Splits training. Lot of hip stretching, leaning and moving while piking. Middle split pulls, etc.
Evening.
Flip work. Working side flips, my most awkward. Started with side rolls, then side barrel rolls over something with contact, then jumping side barrel rolls over something without touching, then side flips into a pit.
Landed a few fronts and backs into the point after
Morning
Hollow body with arms down and legs apart/table
3x12s/3x5
Side Crunch/trunk rotations
3x2(each side)/3x10
V-Ups/pike leans
4x6/4x30s
Bench dips with legs straight and elevated/arm rotations
5x10/5x5
Push-up plank/straddle pulls(ass seriously activated)
3x12sec/3x5
Feet on ground rows/scapular stretch
5x15/5x15sec(each side)
“Stretching away” with your Lockdown (straight towards your feet) while posting the Overhook hand on the opponent’s hip helps to create space for your first Butterfly hook to fit into their hip. This also alleviates their cross face pressure and their ability to put weight on you (making it easier to move/hip out).
Once the first Butterfly Hook is in, you can actually go right for the Hook/Butterfly Sweep (you already have the Underhook on the Butterfly Hook side and Overhook on the side you are going to sweep to), you don’t “need” to get your second Hook in, go to full Butterfly, and “rocking chair” them up to sit on your butt before you actually go for the sweep.
Also, even if you do prefer to go full butterfly first before attempting the Sweep, I still like to threaten the Hook Sweep once I get the first hook in as I usually either wind up with the actual Sweep (meaning more efficiency/less steps to get the Sweep and therefore less energy expended), or they are forced to base out with their “far” knee/foot which makes for more space for me to bring the second hook in and sit up and/or transition straight into X Guard (which I used to play with a lot and still do sometimes just for fun).
Evening
Jiu jitsu. Tapped out a professional mma guy. Only got tapped once by a purple belt and another professional. Pulling off ashi takedowns and honey hole transitions. Happy af. Didn’t work from top at all except a little bit with the professional and purple. Murdered some kids and a crackhead mf.
Morning
Wrist Warm Up and excercises. Finger is still hurt, hand strengthening was kinda rough.
Forearm Headstand/Seated Arm Lean
5x60sec/5x5
Thoracic and shoulder stretching. Bridging and bridge walks.
Ah, gotcha. Your description of the technique didn’t mention that so I assumed you were just going to regular X or doing a simple hook Sweep from Butterfly.
To be honest though, the initial Hook Sweep attempt is just as likely to induce a “posting” of the Leg as a later Hook Sweep attempt, but with less energy and time expended in getting there. And you can enter into Single Leg X just as easily off that posting response as you can with a double butterfly Sweep attempt.
Also, don’t forget Bruce Lee’s famous words:
“It is like a finger pointing the way to the moon. Don’t concentrate on the finger or you miss all that heavenly glory.”
In other words, don’t become so focused on/enamored with a specific Sweep or getting to a specific position that you lose sight of your ultimate goal (and so miss potentially reaching it earlier/more efficiently).
If your goal in getting to Single Leg X is to ultimately Sweep/get on top, then if you have opportunities prior to actually obtaining the position (like the Hook Sweep from the single Butterfly hook that I mentioned above, or just trapping their knee with your arm and bumping them over from Half Guard without the need for the Lockdown) you should take them and develop them to a high level. Eventually you will have a solid sequence of razor sharp tools that you can use to achieve your ultimate goal. If your opponent happens to survive the barrage long enough to make it to your Single Leg X, then you’ll know what to do, but if not, then you’ll still have reached your goal.
