I need to add egg whites to my diet but I hate eggs. Since you can’t drink them does anyone have a cooking method to prepare a ton of them at one time? I’m thinking about baking them in a casserole dish or brownie pan (like 50 at one time) and cutting them into cubes that can be shallowed whole. Any ideas?
I once mixed in some vanilla protein powder and some splenda with about 25ounces of white with a blender. I put the mix in a roll dish and they came out like “popovers.” They weren’t half bad.
You can buy powder egg whites or check out Egg Protein at your local Health Food Store. Either can be easily add to a protein drink.
Best of Luck.
I hardboil about two dozen of them at a time in a big lobster pot. They’re a very filling protein source that’s great for dieting.
I fill up a steamer (one of those big electric vegetable steamers) with about 2 dozen eggs at a time and just keep them in the fridge whole. In the morning, it’s just peel and eat.
Some stores sell a pasteurized bottle of egg whites that you can safely drink in a shake.
How did you cook them, and at what temperature?
Do what Eric did. Its the easiest way (and great for storage), and it is much easier to separate the yolk from the white, once it is cooked. If you are going to buy pasteurized egg whites (you have to cook them, or your body can’t use them) , the easiest way is just to throw them in a nonstick pan and scramble them. Baking takes to long.
I cooked them at about 350 for about 10-15 min. Trial and error stuff really.
Hey, I’m always up for a tasty yet healthy treat. But will the protein powder denature at 350?
