I’m retesting after 9 weeks of current conjugate system then switching to darkhorse program that is linked above actually. I feel like I need some solid retesting to know my weak points then attack them for 9 weeks.
I’d like to hit some nice 1 rep PRs but I don’t know if when I test this time I may shoot for 3rm and calculate it.
I trained with a guy that used to train at Westside. He said Louie would seriously have no clue what he was going to do at the gym, aside from ME lower etc, until he walked through the doors. Dave Tate has wrote as much as well. He even says don’t think about til you walk in the gym door. I have my gym at home…so idk what I’ll do
My entire program is in my log starting around May…
If I ran it again I would totally progress the movements from more abstract to more like the main heading into test week. I would also deload after 6 weeks.
Sorry a bit late:
Progress:
Press: 55 kg - 60 kg = 5 kg 10 pound pr
bench: 97 kg or so no PR here.
Squat 100 kg - 120 kg = 20 kg 44 pound pr
DL: 150 kg - 162,5 kg = 12,5 kg - 25 pound pr
You should work on your weak points in the lift.
I would work from the weakest variation to the strongest, if you understand.
SGDL - paused DL - deficit maybe something like that.
or SGDL - deficit - rack pull
And I had a mini deload in the middle somewhere, that I would keep. You’re gonna dig deep by the end.
Good luck with whatever you choose.
Wow that’s pretty awesome progress on it. I know from what I saw it’s gonna take a lot
Of effort and digging into what you have. I’m gonna give it a go though I think starting week after next. Gonna do some testing with low volume next week maybe
Also I think something like you laid out looks good I’ll do some things different for personal preference but all that I’ll lay out in my log.
Only thing that I saw as issue is setting up DE everyday as that takes a bit of time on some lifts in my gym.
The dynamic effort is “competition” setup with bands and quite low weights.
I am lifting mostly at home so my DE lifts where comp setup without bands.
Increasing weights for 5 weeks, resetting after that for the last 4 weeks.
I think my progress was pretty good, especially taken in consideration that I am 54 years old and strength and mass comes quite slow.
I feel ya. Yeah I’m currently running conjugate at home and it’s no problem aside from it taking time to set up DE. But if you do darkhorse to the T you get tons a work in fast just hopefully it doesn’t slow me down setting up DE daily. In any case I’ll give it a go no matter what hopefully can finish it in the time he lays out lol
Good luck my friend.
Eat well, sleep well, do what you can to recover.
If you feel beat up after 2 cycles I would take a deload.
I was sweating like on no other program and it was just plain awesome.
If you do it, take the time to setup, after the first couple of times I think you’re used to it.
