Confusion's One Workout per Week Log

I think a two-day split with one day dedicated to upper body and one to lower body would be a step forward for you. Having said that programming has never been my strong suit but I would be careful following Mentzer’s methods too closely.

While they definitely worked for Mike, given that his brother was also a decorated bodybuilder it seems likely that genetics played a role and there is no doubt the genetically gifted will grow with much less stimulus than a normal man can. I also don’t think anyone would question that steroids also played a major role in both he and Ray’s success and very likely were at least a contributing factor in both of their deaths at much too young an age. I appreciate the good advice. I realize that mentzer wasnt right about everything. I also know his methods didnt, and wont, work for everyone. He was getting a bit extreme,i think with the last stuff he did. 3 weeks before training that body part again and all. I also realize his very gifted genetics and anabolic use. I like the idea of training to failure or near failure to make the muscle know its gotta get bigger and stronger for next time. I also like the idea of recovery and allowing time for growth. I feel like its been effective enough for me during a time i was doing just about everything wrong with my health. i,m curious to see if i,ve gotten all it has to offer already,or,as i am hoping, will really explode into something good now that i have the focus and energy to truly take it to the limit. I try to be as real as possible,so,if i fail,i will admit it and try a different approach. This boy isnt gonna fail tho, I am in my prime baby! Might need some help with diet at some point, but i am trying to see if i can eat what i want and train once a week and still look good. No big deal, aye?

Wow! Great work quitting smoking and toning down the drinking. You are going to have awesome results as a major effect in this habit change. More oxygen, healing quicker, better over all organ function, and doing away with the ashtrays is a bonus.

What is next on your quiting list ?
Having more than 2 woman in your bedroom at a time ?

No booze … No tobacco … Gotta be porn

…or meth … But he drives trucks long distance, so we might want to keep that one around, lol

No comment on porn  To clarify, i am completely smoke free VelvetElvis. This includes, but is not limited to:tobacco, marijuana, hashish, opium, heroin, ice, meth, crack, and smarties. No snorting either, except for No Doze sometimes.

I just got home from 5 days away. 17 hour days bringing in the harvest. I’ve been pulling 2 dump trailers with a 620hp Scania with a 12 spd transmission. The total weight(gross weight) of the loaded truck is about 83 tons. Got some honey do list stuff tomoz(aussie slang for tomorrow).I, m looking forward to a really intense gym session Sunday.

Curious to see how training and results go without the tobacco. Its been 5 days without a smoke and all is well. Not going back to that stuff anymore. Feeling really positive about my training and looking forward to putting on some more muscle and losiing some body fat. Hey, no problem! Right? Just workout once a week…lol. Confusion

I think you’ll feel better by starting a new, healthy habit.

Think of all the money you’ll save not buying smokes which could be spent on good supps and of course steak.

I hope so Crippler56. Thanks!

This is an excellent point GV. Although wages are higher here,so is EVERYTHING else! A pack of 20 cigarettes Is about $15. A carton(that’s what Aussies call a case)of beer is about $45. Petrol(gasoline) is about $1.55 a litre. I think there are about 4 litres in a gallon, but, I digress…$15 a day will buy some good supps for sure. Not to mention the $45 a day. I saw on your log that you take tumeric. How do you administer it? My wife has we have some but it would taste awful to just eat it…

tumeric can be added like pepper or salt on most meals that is what i do daily for a few years. Just find the amount that is OK to your taste but a bit 3-4 times a day adds up and you know it gets in. I think it is sold has a supplement but with vitamins and supplements we never know how much if any gets absorbed. Instead of 5$ for a small bottle i pay about 1$ buying it in bulk and it is fresher.

BHappy, good idea. there is a spice shop nearby. i will check it out tomorrow. thanks

I take the tumeric in the capsules. I think they are 750mg a piece and I take 4 a day and I when I wake up in the middle of the night. I’ll have one before breakfast, one mid-afternoon, one after lifting, and one before bed. It is important to find a reputable supp company with good product. I like Swanson.

Thanks GV. I will Check into that

Today’s workout. Time in gym about 1 hour. Weight 111kg. Attitude solid.
Dead lift 135x5, 225x3, 315x3, 405x2. One rep up from last time.
Ab machine
Dips+10kg 9,6,5 60sec rest between sets. That’s at least a few more than last time.
Pullups+10kg 4,4,3 then 7 with no weight, 60 rest between sets. That’s one down from last time.
50 floor crunches
Hammer Strength incline bench 1 set to failure.
Reverse pec deck fly 1 set to failure
DB lateral raise, warm up,then 1 working set with the last 2 reps cheating to get the weight up,then slowly lowering.

I was a bit fatigued from such a long work week, but mentally I tried to not let it affect my workout. I did feel sick after from the strain, but that’s a good thing. My analysis of my progress is: I have lost another kilo(2.2lbs) body weight , I’ve added reps to all my exercises except pullups(I think this has to do with the extra rep on the dead lift and extra reps on the dips causing fatigue, and having a shorter rest interval between sets than my last workout). I believe this disproves the theory that 2 weeks between workouts will cause regression. However, it’s possible that I merely put more effort into the workout,or having quit smoking I had more energy,or my attitude was better,or a number of other possibilities. I believe though, and will proclaim boldly, that my muscles have gotten stronger and probably slightly larger as a result of my training. As this type of training is working for me, I’m going to keep at it for a while. Surprise, surprise. Hehehe. Confusion

Solid attitude may be the most important thing.

I think you,re right GV. A lot of it is in the mind

Just dropping by to check out the positivity, it’s hard keeping up with everyone’s logs. Stopping drinking AND smoking is no joke, keep going! I find tumeric great for colds too

I agree with the posts some way back for extra leg work. A guy can never go wrong with well developed glutes/legs, usually guys are all upper body (light bulb syndrome), so a pair of great legs & butt make a guy stand out even more. We do pay attention to these things ya know, well those of us with some sense. Just think about ‘the’ scene in Leathal Weapon and both opening scenes in the first 2 Terminators, etc.
