Competition Diets

Anybody know what a typical competition diet consists of? I’ve been told it’s basically carb restriction but it could be wrong. I’m looking to really shred up and concentrate on keeping size later. Just want to do it fast right now. For the first time, I’m thinking about stepping on stage locally.

this should be a good thread… or you could read Stu’s thread on the BB forum

Posting vague questions after doing no research, on a topic that has been very thoughtfully discussed, is always a great idea.

The OP has been know to due this regularly in CT’s forums.

He appears to be another newb who is more concerned with following advanced routines, such as comp diets, than sticking with the basics.

Within the past week his questions were all about building muscle practically overnight, now he wants to get ripped “fast,” as if normal competing bodybuilders purposefully lose fat slower than otherwise possible.

OP, unless you’ve built a lot more muscle since the last time you’ve posted your stats, stick to the basics. The last thing you need is a competition diet. You’re new enough to training that you shouldn’t need to do anything drastic, other than lift and eat consistently, to lose fat and build muscle. My guess is that you haven’t stuck with any well-planned training or eating program for any significant length of time. Changing this alone will make the biggest difference in your results.

eh im still that person? isn’t four months enough to know that the basics won’t work? I’ve tried the basics and they don’t work for me. I always have to do something different. Maybe my body alignment is out of whack, but nothing compound works for me. Only rows work for me for back, tricep extensions work for triceps, presses dont work for chest but crossovers do, biceps are just irresponsive, only leg extensions and leg curls work for legs, leg press doesn’t do anything, shoulders i think i messed them up, and abs is probably the most responsive even though i don’t work them because they always are in good shape, just with some fat covering it.

Now, at this point, you would say great, then that’s what you need to do. See, here’s the problem, it comes and goes and that’s frustrating. I’m not at all trying to argue with people, but with the notion of stepping on stage, seeing results is now a must. I dont want to be like the mtv guy or dave palumbo.

It seems that nobody here will ever answer my question no matter how much I stress it. My friends laugh at my efforts because they see almost no progress after two years. Right now, I just want to prove them wrong and also step on stage. Anybody willing to help or should I go elsewhere? TMUSCLE seems to be best source for me since only the great people post here. bodybuilding.com isn’t the greatest because everybody seems to follow the same thing. I really don’t want to leave TMUSCLE but it doesn’t seem like I’m wanted here at all.

I’m not whining. I’m just saying I’m looking for help because I want to realize one of my dreams and that i’ve been trying and it’s not paying off. I’ve tried almost all the tips given to me, but they’re only answers to things that I have to ask not ever pertaining to what I need. If I ever ask the questions that I really want answers to, this is what I get. I apologize to everyone I’ve annoyed, but all in all, I will ask one last time for help and from then wait to realize if my goal was never meant to be helped or realized. If I had the money, I would choose to pay to train under CT, or even a diet plan from him (I,BODYBUILDER is the training aha)but he doesn’t even have openings for clients right now, I think.

It is not possible that compound exercises do not work for you. Unless you have a severe medical disorder, which you would probably be aware of, compound exercises will produce growth. Obviously you are doing something wrong, so get a trainer, or a friend, or just find someone in your gym to lift with. Read the articles here, put in your time, and eat.

If you have not seen the progress you want after 2 years you are seriously doing something wrong. I highly suggest hiring a trainer and a good one, prob wont find a good one in 24 hour fitness so look in studio’s where the trainers actually do it for a career. Aim for someone who has the look you are going for and if they are the same body type as you so they know first hand what it takes to get the results you are after. 500 or 1000 bucks right now might seem a little high but will pay off in the long run since you wont be wasting anymore time. When you find this person, pick the shit our of their brain until they get annoyed.

Normally I might agree with this, and I do to a degree. But I think with a trainer it would be more important to find someone that gets people results and the type of results you are looking for.

We have one trainer at work that has obviously won the genetic lottery.
Dude is jacked, but dumb as a box of rocks.

He was actually a roommate of mine for 6 months and to see the food this guy ate you would never guess his body would look like it does by consisting off of shit food.

OP…I have yet to meet anyone that has not responded to the basics of lifting. You might as well just fucking quit right now since they don’t work for you and stop wasting the time of others and yourself. grow up and stop being a fucking pussy man!

Apparently not. Or, more likely, you still don’t understand the basics.

Consistently training as heavy as possible and eating enough to fuel growth work for everyone.

What does this have to do with you? You don’t have anywhere near enough muscle to “step on stage,” so it doesn’t make sense to follow a competition diet.

Have you considered why this is the case? Could it be that perhaps you are completely off base with your assumptions about what you should be doing to build some muscle?

Alright, first off, I’m actually following I,BODYBUILDER right now. Are you saying that I should go back to basics? That’s actually working for me right now.
I just don’t know how to set up a cutting diet for it. I absolutely love I,BODYBUILDER. Like I said, I guess right now the most feasible goal I can accomplish with the advice of some people here is cutting. I do not have the motivation to bulk right now nor the money.

As I’ve explained before, I’ve tried the basics before and hit them hard as possible. But just to show you guys I really went through it, I’ll go through it one more time, this time for six months, and I’ll post a basics log after I get done with all 5 phases of I,BODYBUILDER.

But honestly, does anybody know a good basic competition diet that works pretty fast? Like I said, I just want to be able to see physique changes from week to week. From the looks of things, most people here know how to do it and can easily cut, which is why they’re more concerned with building muscle. I’ve added a good layer of fat and I just want to be able to see my abs for the first time. I honestly can’t see why what I’m asking is enraging everyone. I’ve told everyone everything straight up. I mean, is it so hard to answer the question instead of just typing up hate words? thanks to the poster who did post without anger.

Now, it seems that my goal will never be realized because all I’m getting is negative and angry posts instead of help. I’m asking about diet and you guys are ripping at me for training? i don’t get it.

You think the “basics” don’t work because you don’t eat enough.

I bet you’ve never force-fed yourself consistently while doing basic lifts in a progressive overload manner.

Plus, four months is nothing.

That’s the problem – you don’t get it.

The problem is that you believe that you are somehow different than everyone else and that the principles for building muscle somehow do not apply to you.

Plus, you don’t have enough muscle or fat to need to follow a “competition diet.” The fact that you’re asking for one just shows how far from reality your thought process is.

Finally, it’s really weak to try to lay blame for not reaching your goals at people who are trying to help. The problem is that they are not giving the answers that you want to hear. That is your problem, not everyone else’s.

OP, I really think you’d be better served by posting your questions in the Beginner’s forum.

I’m sure you somehow don’t think of yourself as a beginner, but it’s obvious to everyone else that you are, which is a big part of your problem.

Is that you in your avatar? If you answer yes, why in the world are you cutting?

No shit, you’d look better after 20 lbs of quality weight. You won’t see abs if you cut without any LBM.

I agree BBB
